Another great bbq competition in the books. I had my medical director, runner (she turned in our items), and very good friend accompanying me. We got to smoke on the brand new pit from that even he had not cooked on called "The Evolution". and I had a lot of good bbq science talk throughout the night indy the wee hours of the morning. 2nd place Turkey had me literally laughing as they called us because we were sure we'd get last. Brisket came in a respectable 3rd place. Great time with even better people. Can't wait for 2026!

To better serve our community, we have rescheduled the pop-up event to Thursday, January 16, from 6–8 PM. This change allows us to focus on providing hundreds of meals to those on the front lines and individuals who have been displaced due to the devestating fires that have afflicted LA. We are STILL raising money at donorbox.org/holy-smokes and 100% of proceeds will go to food, supplies, and clothing for those in need.

We are continuing to raise funds and will document how the contributions are being used and why they matter. Despite these challenging times, I believe we all need moments of relief and connection. That’s why it’s so important to come together, enjoy delicious food, and have a good time.

I don't usually publicize this, but every week I donate/give brisket to someone who inspires me or is a widow or someone in need of a pick me up to feel seen. This I will publicize because deserves a lot of praise (though, as she will say "oh stop it!"). She is an upstander and mensch in a world full of bystanders and hatred. Caroline has been a ceaseless advocate for the Jewish people and Israel, visiting Israel in the middle of the war to bear witness and support, listen and spread her love. Caroline, you get brisket for life. And, of course, shout out to and Caroline for a wonderful event to help couples going through infertility feel seen. And (pictured) for being a mensch, even though you are vegetarian 😂😘.
