CHAD CLAYTON EVENTS

Hello, Wilmington!

It’s me, Chad Clayton, and I present to you my pride and child: CHAD CLAYTON EVENTS.

A few years ago, I left my career in retail and relocated to Burlington, North Carolina. Soon after arriving in the place I would then call home; I began helping out a local catering company. One of my first events was a wedding at Starlight Meadow, a gorgeous local venue. Soon after that wedding, the owner of the establishment asked if I would be interesting in working events for the company. I accepted, of course! For the next year I worked for the catering company and managing events at the venue.

Following that year, I left the catering company because I was ready for my next adventure: working as their venue manager, which was the role I held for the next three years. People began asking me if I would consider privately planning their events. It was around the end of my tenure at Starlight Meadow that I began considering it and that’s when started planning my own weddings. My first client was actually one of my good friends that got engaged and I agreed to plan her wedding. In addition to her, I also picked up two other clients that I had met at Starlight Meadow or through my time with the catering company. All in all, I did three weddings that year while continuing to manage the venue. When I had picked up enough clients, I stopped working at the venue and focused solely on my own event planning company, Boy Friday. As I continued to gain more and more clients (mostly by word of mouth due to my stellar reputation 😉), the events started getting further and further away from my home. I began booking more coastal clients and that’s when I knew it was time to move back to the NC coast — my favorite place during those crazy college years.
