Christmas food donations
Christmas is that time of the year where lots of families and loved ones come together. Sadly, this is not what Christmas is for a lot of other people - itβs also a time where some experience loneliness, isolation and lack. Thatβs why we, at African Kitchen @a_f_kitchen , this year, decided to contribute/give back to the community in our own little way and put a smile on as many faces as possible.
So we teamed up with 2 charities on the 19th December 2023.
This project meant a lot to me, having worked in the charity sector myself.
1. Future Projects, @futureradio_norwich , who were delivering over 300 hampers to individuals & families. We contributed packed hot meals (Jollof rice + Diced chicken and Coconut Fried Rice {Vegetarian/Vegan Option}) to go with the hampers and Puff Puff, Spring rolls & Samosas for all the amazing volunteers.
We were up from 2:45am to start preparing the meals and were super pleased to have theirs ready, packed, labelled and ready to go from about 8:30am. It was amazing to see so many volunteers, including @avivauk taking the hampers to deliver to peopleβs homes.
We then headed to New Routes and got there at about 12:30pm.
2. New Routes @new_routes , a charity for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, who were hosting a community lunch for individuals and families. We provided hot meals and pastries.
We want to thank all our new, and returning customers (and future customers π) for all your support throughout the year as without your patronage, we wouldnβt have been able to achieve this. You have also contributed to the joy of these lovely individuals and families. Thank you!!! Letβs go again next year πͺπΎπͺπΎπͺπΎ
