In the nineteenth century they were unable to defy the rising power of Napoleon, and although they made treaties of neutrality, Hessen-Kassel was occupied by the French. Napoleon was finally defeated in 1815, and Hessen-Darmstadt acquired the bishopric of Mainz and the city of Worms, but also gave Hessian lands to Bavaria and Prussia. Although Hessen-Darmstadt was a member of the Prussian "Zollverein" (trade and tariff organization) by 1828, the rule of the Baron of Dalwigk provoked Prussian action. Dalwigk fought on the Austrian side during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, and when Austria lost, the Prussians forced him to pay reparations and cede territory. Hessen-Kassel was annexed in 1866, and Hessen-Nassau also became a Prussian province of the German Empire in 1871. Only Hessen-Darmstadt remained a grand duchy.

The spelling of a surname undergoes tremendous variation as it changes over time, particularly in the German language, in which suffixes and prefixes are added to the root name in order to indicate something about the person's character, religion, or place of origin. Also, during the Middle Ages very few people could read or write, and scribes often wrote down the names based on their sound. Hence the variations we found of the name Diehl are Diehl, Diel, Dele, Deel, Diehle, Diele and Diehlento name a few examples

I did not know who I was as a child. I always knew something was off. It was. This was not my fault. My grandmother had an affair, in 1923. I can understand things in life can be a touch off-balance. Yin and Yang. I've really love to meet my family, this has something as a child I never really truly knew anyone except my sibling. I had 2 half siblings but something was off with our relationship and that's even beyond my control. I'll let this be my book.

The video is my great grandfather's company, when I saw even got the thought to type the link into YouTube I ghasped, now. The photo has a lot of people in it. I'd love to find out who is who in the photo because they are all my biological family and there are even more photo's out there!

It took me 30 years to build a solid fully functional Diehl Tree and now I know more. I've solved many puzzles now about my own lineage. I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending the last few years laughing, smiling and doing what I love most, genealogy research.

Enjoy this video, I wish they knew about me. It's not about money it's about kindness and positive communication.

Tomorrow. Today. Since 1902.
