Over the next few weeks we’d like to shout out the businesses who are supporting us to do what we do by doing what they do 🙏

Although a lot of carbon offset schemes tragically miss the necessity to make a difference in the fight to regrow biodiversity; we plant a mix of UK grown, native broadleaf trees in areas that need them and give them the care they need to get them started and for nature to recover. We aren’t a scheme or a carbon trader, we just offer the trees that we plant in the way that we plant them and let that speak for itself.

First up we have - a sustainable beach toy start-up based in West Wales. They’re helping to rid the oceans of single-use, brittle beach toys by swapping the plastic for much more durable and sustainable silicone. Silicone is mainly made from silica which is derived from sand - great stuff! For every four sets of beach toys sold, sgwij will plant a tree with us 😄🌳

Well, we still can’t dance properly - so what about those trees we planted..? Here are a few from the woods.

We’ve had to up the price of them a bit... To give them the biggest chance at succeeding in life, they need to be cared for more than we’d anticipated. The price rise allows us to give them just that. We replace any that don’t make it, keep the weeds down around them and help when big storms blow big branches on top of them.. (see end photo).

For less than the price of a Big Mac meal you can buy a tree through our website and it’ll be planted here in West Wales this November - March. We’ve got a load of land to fill this season and we need your help to fill it! 🌳🌲🌿

International Forest Day… It may seem a bit trivial given the chaos permeating our news feeds at the moment. However, it’s more important now than ever to raise awareness for the foundation of life on this earth. It’s struggling, in case you hadn't noticed already...

Trees, they’ve always given us more than we need - they shaded the backs of our ancient ancestors from the scorching sun of the African plains, they provided a source of fuel, a roof over head, food, drink, mystery, fable, romance, legend! Our history and our future depends on them so take this day to remember that!

Go for a walk in a forest and feel life budding into 2021!

Did you know, It would take 14 tree huggers holding hands to hug the world's largest tree…?

Did you also know, the term ‘tree hugger’ didn’t actually start in the age of free love and psychedelics. It began in Rajasthan, India way back in 1730 when the Bishnoi women hugged the trees of their local village in protest to protect them from being cut down by the soldiers of the Maharaja Abhai Singh.

In total 373 people were killed in what became known as the Khejarli Massacre. It’s not all bad news though - through this courageous sacrifice the trees of the Bishnoi were deemed protected by law by the very person that ordered them to be cut down - Maharaja Abhai Singh.

These days, in most cases, we’re lucky in that we’re protected by human rights when we want to stand up for something, but with only 3% of UK natural forests left perhaps they need some rights too. Plant more, protect more, enjoy more!

It takes 1 year for 1 tree to absorb 21kg of Carbon Dioxide from the Earths atmosphere.

Some perspective - we need to get rid of around 20 Billion tonnes of the stuff from the atmosphere every year until 2100 to meet the Paris agreement and stop the global temperature from going over the 2 degrees C margin… And, to top it all off, 2020 was the joint hottest year ever recorded!

That’s a big old mountain of CO2…

Back to the music…

It’s been a tough year not being able to play out loud and watch people dance. The closest I got was at with a playlist collaboration, curated for their summer/autumn meal nights on the grass, overlooking the marshy wildlands where deer roam free and owls roost in the trees.

This playlist is meant to be accompanied by the crisp sound of rustling beech leaves whilst the sun goes down with a beer, wine or even a water. Whatever you’ve got, wherever you are let it take you on a musical journey through a dreamy place. Or, just stick it on while you’re having dinner 😉

These are trees (Common Alder in this case). Real life, living, breathing, carbon sequestering trees. You buy them on our website for the price of half a pint, they magically plant themselves in West Wales and help save the planet. You need do nothing else (unless you want to of course), just sit back and relax, we’ll do the rest.

As well as planting the trees, the money will also buy canes and tree guards. Not forgetting some of the cost of caring for them until they can fend for themselves - the rest will go towards the first of many parties to come!

Once planted, they’ll be added, along with your name, to the Good Nature tree network which you can follow along with on the 'Tree Network' page of our website. There’ll be photos and videos of the planting process to check out along the way 🙂

The times ahead are exciting! We’re going to dance like never before! But for now, let’s plant trees 😄🌳💃🕺

Trees! Trees! Trees! Trees! That’s what this whole thing is all about, right? These two Silver Birch are special though, they’re a part of the same land that will become the first Good Nature plantation! 🌲🌳🌲🌳😄🙏

Nestled in a pocket of West Wales, this is the first of what will be many locations across the UK. We’ll be planting a mixture of Silver Birch and Common Alder. The location has a more boggy patch which suits the Alder and the higher drier part is more suited to the Silver Birch. It’s important to plant native species which support the local wildlife to increase biodiversity. These will be neighboured by Oak, Hazel, Beech and many other native trees and shrubbery in a diverse slice of Welsh woodland.

Beyond throwing parties (one day) and now selling sustainable merchandise, it’s always been our ambition to get dirty hands and feel the realness of physically planting trees down in the dirt. It’s incredibly exciting that this vision can now be realised! Now we just need the parties…!

In the coming weeks there will be more merchandise for sale. Keep an eye out and know that your money will buy a tree from a local nursery and be planted by us - starting here 🙂

Hello Everyone :-)

It’s been a tough few months… We’re bobbing around wondering when the shimmering disco ball at the end of the tunnel will swallow us up and take control of our bodies again.

Events… what even are they??? Those things where you’d share a cup with anyone around you, try on everyone's clothes, squash so tightly against the person next to you their sweat combines with yours, you weave through the crowd, the band is an arm's length away and all of a sudden you’re kissing a complete stranger! Oh, and you’re crying because the whole thing is just soo flipping GREAT!

Now all we're left with is uncertainty, doubt and desire!!

Let’s be optimistic though - they will return! In the meantime we’ve had some tote bags printed to keep things ticking over whilst we wait this out. They’re 100% recycled, Fair Wear and Global Recycling Standard approved, plus a pound from each one goes to the Woodland trust to support their vital work in restoring and protecting UK forests. The rest goes towards getting the show back on the road as soon as we can.

Trees and biodiversity are what make this world of ours go round and in the UK we only have 2% of original forests left and only 13% of the land is covered in trees.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the live stream! Sorry it was cut short and changed platforms, turns out people prefer the sound of the birds, which are nice to be fair but next time we’ll go somewhere more isolated with a lot less people around.
