Strengthen Your Bond with Your Teenager"

Allyuh, I had an amazing time playing football with the Staff Team against the students! It is part of a five-a-side competition hosted by our Form 5 students as part of their School Based Assessment. Each team must have at least one female, and she must play for a minimum of 5 minutes. I have been the only female staff member playing over the years, and every time is just as awesome as the last!

Our first game ended in favour of the Staff—2-1. The second game? Oh, it was tough, full of excitement, and the students won 3-2. I'm excited and looking forward to our third game. The buzz and the excitement is high.
You know, the students always come out in full support. It is a moment they get to see their teachers in action, especially the female teacher—me! 😄

If you know me, I really have a phenomenal time at any school sporting event, and the female students especially show me some love, while the male students are in awe that I am actually running! I am no footballer, but my netball skills and speed let me keep up and make a small run with the young men. And yes, I get no easy play!
But here is the bigger picture. Playing sports with the students, whether it is football, netball, basketball, or even a relay, creates a special bonding moment. It changes how they see me and how I see them. That connection pays off big time in the classroom—it makes teaching and learning easier and more enjoyable.

So, here is a question for the parents: What are you doing to strengthen your bond with your child? Exams are just around the corner, and showing interest in what they love can go a long way in boosting that parent-child connection. Take a moment to join them in what excites them—it might just be the key to unlocking better communication, trust, and support.
