All of the ribbon decor, signage ornaments came from Hobby lobby . they had such an amazing sale on Christmas Day. I used vibrant greens and reds to complete this look.

I come from an rich family and was raised in a rich home, with both parents present in our household. We enjoyed family vacations and attended church regularly. I even had my own car. Our wealth, however, was abundant in love, care, and our faith in Christ. By American standards, though, we were far from affluent; not even considered middle class. Both of my parents held government jobs - my father in the city and my mother in the state. They lived paycheck to paycheck, and I witnessed my mother skillfully creating a beautiful home on a limited budget. It was a place we cherished.

This experience serves as the foundation for my interior home refreshing business. I firmly believe that you don't need to spend exorbitant amounts to revitalize your living space. What sets me apart from traditional interior designers is my approach – I'm akin to a financial planner for your home. I assist you in getting started and then work out a strategic plan to complete your project as additional funds become available. A Faux Window Transformation! 🪟✨

In this makeover, I decided to think outside the box and bring the beauty of natural light into a room where a window was absent. How did I achieve this? By creating a stunning false window!

Using clever design techniques, I crafted a full-sized window illusion on a back wall. To bring it to life, I strategically placed a combination of back wall lights, delicate drapes, and blinds. The result? The room instantly felt brighter, more spacious, and immersed in the charm of natural light.

The feedback from my client was overwhelming! They were thrilled with the outcome and amazed at how such a simple addition could completely transform the ambiance of the room. Witnessing their joy and satisfaction is the ultimate reward for any designer.

It's incredible how small design choices can make a world of difference in a space, elevating it to new heights.

After completing a makeover for a client, it has been my usual practice to offer recommendations for future enhancements they could consider with additional funds. However, this time, the client was so impressed that they requested me to proceed with the additional work and even paid me extra. I'm excited to share the pictures of the accessories and additions that truly transformed the room into something spectacular.

This week's project is something truly special!
The Bokey Girl had the amazing opportunity to transform a windowless, unfinished shed into a charming serene cottage —a "Sheshed"!

My client wanted to create a relaxing retreat for her partner, a place where they could unwind after a long day of teaching. It was a labor of love, and I'm thrilled with the results! 😍 To keep costs down, I sourced some key pieces from online retailers like Amazon and Walmart, while also supporting local shops such as Ria's Decor & More, Maya's Bookstore, and the Goodwill Downtown Sanford.

Since the shed had one source of electricity, I got creative with battery-operated bulbs from Amazon for the charming barn lights. And even without a window, I crafted a fake window using a flush mount flat light from Lowe's, complete with blinds and a lovely curtain.

One of my favorite touches was the faux mantel we built using refurbished wood. It added warmth and character to the space. Trust me, I was tempted to stay there myself! In the middle of Lake County, you wouldn't even guess that this hidden gem existed just by looking at the shed from the outside.

As a designer, I understand that not all clients have the same budget for their projects.
Designing on a budget may come with some limitations, but it's an opportunity to get creative and think outside the box. With a bit of resourcefulness, you can still achieve a stylish and functional space that suits your needs and budget. With this project we used many accessories that the client had, awards, ci**rs and alcoholic beverages to jazz up the space. Like always I provided the client with recommendations that they can add at a later date.
✍🏽Adding four slim drink tables to hold beverages and/or ci**rs would not only be functional but also add a touch of elegance to the space. A console in front of the window to hold the humidifiers would be a great addition as well. Additionally, creating more seating areas along the rails with an accent table and some greenery would complete the look.

Before & After 🍃refreshed and energized after transforming this bedroom on a budget!🌿💚 Thanks to some incredible finds from Homegoods, I was able to create a peaceful and stylish space without breaking the bank. The addition of plant life has truly brought the room to life. I highly recommend incorporating the color green into your decor- it's such a calming and rejuvenating hue!✨

DO IT YOURSELF! Transformed this public park gazebo for less than $100. A pair of sheer curtains and beautiful artificial flowers created this enchanting look. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on decor. Amazon.com has the most realistic artificial flowers. The colors are so vibrant and easy to shape.

Chic, French, Country!
Three Amazon Finds for this client!

I design on a budget. The chic country style chairs, chandelier and drapes were the perfect addition to this dining room. The chairs are well built, extremely sturdy, with beautiful upholstered fabric.
The inexpensive chandelier was easy to assemble, and added class and flair. Last, I loved the drapes. These blackout curtains are perfect for privacy and created a peaceful and luxurious look to the formal dining space.

Design on a Dime!
I was able to furnish my daughter’s entire apartment from barely used like new items. Facebook Marketplace is a great tool. My daughters bed came from a home that had the bed in a guest room that wasn’t used. They were selling to make room for a nursery. ( the entire set was more than $1500 I got it for $300) The high top table was brand new. It was too small for owners space. The gently used very heavy, sturdy tv console was sold to me for $50!!!
The rug was from Ross! If you are looking for beautiful rugs please check out Ross! ( the same exact rug would cost $299.99 at HomeGoods… Ross, $89.99. The drapes were from Amazon $30.00.
The couch was a gently used gift from her Nana. The chase lifts up for storage and the bottom pulls out to make a full size bed ( for when her sisters want to spend the night) I added a few accessories and clearance items and she has a fully furnished apartment that didn’t break the bank.

Amazon find of the week. ( more photos in the comments) I design on budget for my clients. I find amazing decor for a fraction of the price that I would pay in a boutique or decor store. This week I found this unique piece- metal sunburst from Amazon $139.00. It was a great addition.

BEFORE AND AFTER! Design on a Dime. Beautiful home in Volusia County. A few changes to make this house feel like home. Because I design on a budget, I inform the clients of what they can add at a later date. We added accent colors, chairrails, upgraded chandelier in kitchen nook, accent furniture, Shiplap paneling on the island, added many accessories including drapes and portraits and made over the home theater room.

Design on a Dime. Another refresh by the Bokey Girl.
At the consult I informed the client that the living area was too dark and too dated. I said let’s bring a little life to the dining/ living room. The client agreed. We painted, upgraded the furniture ( Ashley’s Home Furnishings - sofa, love seat and dining table )changed the light fixtures and added new curtains and accessories.
I recommended that the client adds greenery, a faux leather ottoman, a buffet/ console in the dining area and a bench in the empty space ( not pictured).
My clients are on a budget and I always leave them with recommendations on how they can add to the space when extra funds are available.
It doesn’t take a lot to start refreshing your home.

Volusia County Residents lost so much during the large floods of the 2022 Hurricane season. They contacted The Bokey Girl to bring their home back to life. But on a budget! After going through that experience, they needed someone who could really stretch the dollar.

Design on a Dime! This home was ruined by flood waters after Hurricane Ian. The entire home was flooded with several feet of water and this family had to get rid of everything, and make major repairs to their home.
I was tasked with refreshing this space and making it feel like home once again on a budget.
A warm coat of paint, an accent wall in the entryway, a splash of green and gold , floating shelves…with a great love seat and sofa (Presidents Day deal at Ashely’s Furniture ) and the space once again feels like home. Because I design on a budget, I always let clients know what they can do to up grade/ add to the space later. Note : because I was limited on space, I placed a sofa table behind the couch for photos /accessories and lamps.
Recommendation :
Add a square faux leather ottoman in the center
Find a larger entryway table ( the current one can be moved over to the opposite side of the love seat as an end table)
A larger mahogany wood color or gold mirror to add drama to that entry wall.
Faux wood blinds over the window ( antique white )
A retro tv stand on the opposite wall ( not pictured)
Crown molding around the room.

I wasn’t too impressed with HomeSense, because it was just like HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, until I saw their chandeliers… The light fixtures… Amazing and affordable. I cannot wait to decorate homes with them.

Refreshing a tiny bathroom. When this historic home was built there was no bathroom. A bathroom was added as a very small extension of the home. It has the original claw foot tub and bead board paneling.
I decided to add Shiplap and a mini metal fan & light fixture to the ceiling. Two coats of black satin paint and upgraded the hardware. I also painted the feet on the tub black. DESIGN ON A DIME!
