A note from the show creator:

Why do we need “The World’s Worst Dressage Show?”

This show was created for a couple of very simple reasons, both based around inclusivity. The first goal of this show is to create a space for those who wouldn’t normally have a platform in modern show equestrianism. I respect the athletes who compete in the regular show environment. However, it is very exclusionary. There is a narrow window of people who fit the mold for conventional horse showing these days, and it doesn’t leave a lot of room for people who are less than perfect. In our show, anyone can perform. We are a space for the neurodivergent, the creative, the unusual, and the lighthearted. You do not have to be a top tier professional with the right breeches and a $400 show jacket to “win” this competition. You do not have to be perfect to have a chance with us. I am beyond excited to see what participants come up with, when we hold space for them to be seen. Second, we want to create an environment that brings more people into equestrianism. By making this an event with comedians and an audience, we are showing our community that anyone can get into horses. As a trainer and instructor, it is not unusual for me to have a beginner come to me saying they’ve held off on horses for a long time because they thought that the horse world was unfriendly and didn’t have any space for them to come in and just have fun and love horses.

So this event is about love. It is about inclusion. It is about faith in something other than a narrow perception of perfection. We are putting this show on with a lot of love and good intention. We aren’t looking to profit greatly off of ticket sales. Instead, we hope to be able to bring this event to more people and grow it in time.

Thank you for being part of our community. With your help, these wonderful and interesting equestrians have a loving and fun platform by which to do what they need. We hope to see you Saturday!

Have you heard of American Trail Gear?

This local company creates beautiful, custom made horse gear from durable biothane. I first came across their products when I was teaching in Central Oregon. A client had some mules, which we all know have giant ears! American trail gear made all their tack custom, and created a click in crown to their bridles so that the mules wouldn't get their sensitive ears in a bind.

American Trail Gear has made a custom halter for one of our show finalists! I am excited to see who gets it!

The World’s Worst Dressage Show is postponed til April 22nd due to the unusual amount of snow we have gotten. Many of our performers travel through the mountains to get to us and we do not want them risking themselves or their precious ponies.

Comedic Judge Spotlight!

Vincent Truman is an accomplished filmmaker, writer, director and actor. His film "Enter The Mollusk" won Best Film at the Toronto Comedy Film Festival in 2022. He is a graduate of the Second City program in Chicago and has taught improvisation and sketch comedy at the college level. He currently lives in Portland and is learning the local fine art of being passive aggressive about everything.

Judge’s Spotlight!!!

I am Taylor Harden, a passionate and proud mounted warrior of Central Oregon and founder of the organization Darkhorse Warriors LLC. Darkhorse Warriors was created to be an inclusive safe space for any warrior that needs the opportunity to learn, or simply remember how powerful they are. Especially the next generation of young warriors among the BIPOC’s in our Central Oregon communities, looking for a place to be all of their vibrant beautiful selves. We offer lessons in the basics of becoming a warrior in the way that best suits the individual. Whether it starts with archery, horsemanship, or learning how to craft ancient inspired weapons from scratch, like arrows or spears, it’s all about sharing the opportunity to explore and try new things in a safe and fun way.

Find lost or forgotten power hidden inside yourself by learning skills of a warrior.

What do I like most about horses. . . .

That they hold a mirror up to your soul and can help a human become the best version of themselves, if we let them.

Kid prices have dropped!!

We want everyone to feel included at our event, and therefore it is especially kid friendly! Children under 6 are free. Ages 7-17 $10.

This is the kind of horsey entertainment the whole family will love, but especially horse crazy kiddos! Lots of color, lots of creativity, and lots of fun!

What in the WORLD is the World’s Worst Dressage Show?!?!

This one of a first of its kind event! It is an inclusive and family friendly horse show: part horse, part stand up comedy! Our funny judges will be mic’d for the pleasure of the audience. You do not need to know anything about horses to come along on this adventure!

We have the absolute most terrible awards categories for our closing ceremony! Several of these categories include: Best Worst Dressage Rider, Floopsiest Salute, Low Point, and more!

We will be showcasing local inclusive business owners and local comedians throughout the show!

Doors open at 9:00 March 4th. The show starts at 10am. The awards ceremony starts at 5:00 pm. There will be food and beverage vendors available!

Registration for the World’s Worst Dressage Show is now open!

Please fill out the appropriate forms, including the liability form on our website, on the “register” page. Once your registration paperwork is in, we will be in contact with payment options, test sheets, and to answer any questions you may have. If you are having trouble with the online registration form, we are happy to send you a Word Doc copy to your email.

Please note, your registration will be processed in the order it is received. Due to the high volume of submissions we are getting, it may take us up to 24 hours to get back to you. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

What in the WORLD is the World’s Worst Dressage Show?!?!

It’s stupendous! It’s Spectacular!!


This one of a kind event is a fun, family friendly horse show designed to lighten the mood around showing. While this show is based in a dressage format, registration is open to equestrians of any level, any age, and any discipline. As long as WE ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY! Our funny judges will be mic’ed for the pleasure of the audience. Any tack that is safe for you and your animal is fine to ride in.

We have the absolute most terrible awards categories for our closing ceremony! Several of these categories include: Best Worst Dressage Rider, Floopsiest Salute, Low Point, and we will be crowning the most matchy matchy team as the Dressage Queen.



Registration opens on January 9th! Anyone who registers within the first two weeks will receive 20% off their registration fee.

Each of our 4 classes is designed with a different purpose. You will have ten minutes to perform your test. Please read the descriptions on each before asking questions.

Introductory Class: This “test” is designed for the newer equestrian or animal. You may show any type of critter you like as long as you perform the test correctly. This test can be ridden or in hand. Naughty ponies are highly encouraged! This test will be set up like a traditional intro dressage test, with a bonus category to score points for costume, salute creativity, props, and more. This test is walk/ trot only.

Advanced Class: This test must be ridden. This test is highly interpretive. Do your best with the instructions. We can’t wait to see what you come up with! This test is walk/ trot/ canter.

Blind Class: You get no advanced prep for this class. A caller will call it out to you as you ride. Walk/ trot/ canter

Freestyle: Let your freak flag flow! Is there a routine you’ve always wanted to perform but didn’t have the correct environment in which to show? Well you do now! Props are highly encouraged.




This event is located at the Clark County Fairgrounds. We have stalls on site as well as a limited amount of RV hookups. If there are enough participants we will extend the show out to March 5th as well.

Any riding teams who have previously performed at the Washington State Horse Expo are encouraged to contact us about opportunities to perform during Judges’ Intermissions.

We will shortly be hiring for equine videographer, photographer, event staff, as well as looking for some volunteers.
