My last sponsor post is one that still has me in awe.

I work at Aeropostale at the Outlet Mall. One night in December I was talking to a co-worker who asked me how my senior project was going. I told him that it was going well but I was only halfway where I needed to be on sponsorships, and I really wanted to get that secured before the end of the year. There was a customer shopping in the store while we were chatting and pretty soon she brought her items over to the register for me to ring her out. I asked her if she found everything ok, and she said, “I heard you talking about a project you were working on, can you tell me more?”

I started sharing the goals of my project and what I was doing and without hesitation, she handed me her business card and said, “ I would like to contribute to your project, can you send me more information?”

I was blown away. Part of me thought maybe once she got home and thought about it more, she would change her mind, but I emailed her later that night a copy of my sponsorship presentation and thanked her for chatting with me. Later that next day, she confirmed a Gold Sponsorship for my project.

The lessons I learned from this encounter still has me awestruck. A complete stranger. Someone I had never met, never known until that minute, someone who totally trusted God in that moment, that this was something she was led to do, was able to bless my project in such a big way.

In that moment God showed me so many things.

Words matter. When you speak, people can hear you, and what you say can impact or change someone without you even realizing it.
You never know who has the power to bless you.
Trust and have Faith. His Will will be done.
God puts people where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there. I was only working two nights a week in December. How crazy that I was working at the same time that she was shopping in the store I work in at that very moment on that night.
God uses people on earth to teach us lessons and show us that He Lives.


Thank you to My Whole Kitchen, Kristen Gayman. Meeting you has made such an impact on me. I will share this story forever.

“Why a concert?”

This is a question I have been asked constantly for the past 7 months when asked about my project. For me, concerts bring a sense of unity and peace. Concerts allow people to be themselves and feel connected to a room full of people. Music allows us to express ourselves and feel every emotion so deeply. Concerts allow us to do that live and in person, surrounded by peers who relate to us.

I set out to create and organize a concert because I felt like the experience they provide is incomparable. I love the energy that radiates from everyone in the moment. The buzz and excitement in the air is like no other. I have been so fortunate to be able to attend several concerts throughout my life and even as a little girl, music was my favorite form of self expression. I grew up with music all around me. Dancing and singing along to Carrie Underwood in the car was the best and I wish those moments of pure joy that are created by music, for everyone.

Along with so many other reasons I wanted to do a concert to allow people who may not have easy access to Indianapolis or Louisville, to be able to attend a concert in their own backyard. I also wanted this event to be an easy way for youth to expose Christ to their peers. Who would say no to a free concert?? This show is a way for me to introduce new people to Jesus and gives others that same opportunity.

Getting an invite to church or Bible study or even youth group can be intimidating. Getting an invite to a concert is a lot easier. 🎶

P.S. If you bought an extra ticket and are trying to decide who to take, step out of the box and think, “who could really benefit from this?”.

What’s this project’s goal????

Hi! My name is Ashlynn Waddle and I’m a Senior at Columbus East High School in Columbus, Indiana. This page was created to share my Senior Project with as many people as possible and get the word out about Grilled Cheese Thursdays AND a Colton Dixon Concert! Some of my most favorite things in life are friends, fun, music, my faith, and….GRILLED CHEESE!!

Did you know that there is a youth outreach program in Columbus called Grilled Cheese Thursdays?

Every week during the school year, all of the county’s high school students are invited to attend a FREE Grilled Cheese lunch on Thursdays. That’s right, I said, “FREE”! The location is convenient to all schools and is held in Venture’s (St. Peter’s) youth room downtown. This school year, the program has been averaging 250 youth per week!


Grilled Cheese Thursdays are a time for youth to come and hang out with friends they know or meet new ones. It is a place where there is no judgment, no requirements, no stress, and no worries – just fun, fellowship, and grilled cheese! There is always music playing but the type of music depends on the volunteers that work that week – sometimes we hear songs from Queen, sometimes it is Harry Styles, sometimes Broadway’s Mama Mia, and sometimes it is Dolly Parton. It is always fun to show up and see what playlist is playing.

Grilled Cheese Thursdays have been a very important part of my high school life. Now that I’m a senior, I really want to make sure that other high school kids in the future have the same opportunity to attend Grilled Cheese Thursdays as I did.


GCT’s goal is the same goal I am striving for through this concert, which is bringing people, specifically youth, together for an interdenominational night of praise and worship all while bringing them closer to Jesus through inclusivity and enjoyable laid-back fun! This is why any profits made above costs for this event will go towards GCT so that the event leaders can continue their mission for our local youth.

I am so excited to have Colton Dixon, a Christian music artist from Nashville, Tennessee, come to Columbus East Auditorium on Saturday night February 18th at 7pm, to perform! It will be amazing to have Colton come to help raise money for Grilled Cheese Thursdays and invest in our county’s youth!
