Hello Beautiful People 🔆
My name is Sōl & Sand Picnics. In case you’re wondering who is behind all of this.. My idea was born in Devon during the hard 2020 winter lockdown and I’ve been brewing ever since, due to lots of conversations around connection and mental/physical well-being.

My founder is called Sophia. I am very passionate about giving people relaxing, soulful, sustainable, lazy, oceanside experiences that will help your mental and physical health. She will officially launch me into the world (starting out in Exmouth Devon) in July 2023. Taking bookings from then onwards 🔆

The best bit - For every picnic booked, a part of the funds will go towards donating a meal to a local person in need via the local community food bank 💛

I am inspired by a huge love of the outdoors, bringing people together, alfresco dining, well-being, memories of travelling in countries where there were hammocks everywhere, and supporting local independent businesses.

A little side story about the name - Why the name SōL & Sand?

SŌL because it translates as the Sun in Spanish and Latin. Sophia loves SŌL, and Spanish culture. Sophia has always wanted to have her own dog and spent 7 years borrowing dogs on borrow my doggy. One day when she’s able to she wants to call her first dog SŌL and he will be her assistant. He will one day give you his paw and his best smile when welcoming you at my picnics. One day…apologies, got distracted by dogs!
Let’s focus and get to the point! Sand because it’s the best feeling when you take your shoes off and let the soft sand massage your feet as you walk. It’s like a mood boosting effect.

Anyway, please feel free to come and join me under the sun (hopefully) in the near future and let me take you on a relaxing unique beachside journey. Looking forward to my new big adventure 🧺🌊🌞

My vow to only leave footprints at the beach. 10 years ago in my old earlier life of wanderlust, I saved up and went to Bali on my own (a dream trip), had a surf lesson there and swam with turtles. It really is a beautiful place on earth, but they had a beyond serious problem with plastic pollution. The locals had no education and guidance on how to deal with it. With each wave you could see a sea of plastic bags in the water and one even washed into my face. I won’t lie, I did cry a bit after my lesson because it wasn’t what I expected and back then there wasn’t much shared online around the extent of it. Then got back and researched beach cleans. I then started joining in on local cleanup events which was an education in itself with the types of things you end up picking up. I’ve also gone on boat sailings with south westers @marine_discovery_pz @devonseasafari and seen some incredible wildlife on our own coastline, which I think perhaps makes the problem become more real, important and urgent in your mind rather then watching it on a tv screen. Those trips cost me around between £29-£45 and highly recommend them. We are a planet that is now aware of the destruction we have caused by pollution, but it still feels like the message has been missed every time I go to my local beaches. I vow to pick up litter when I see it and continue to hope that those that drop it, will stop it. I also promise to be as plastic free as possible. Hardly anything in the setups is plastic but if there is I apologise. I’ve been trying really hard to source everything to be plastic free.
