While the hustle and bustle of Christmas ends for many people on Dec. 26, throughout Christian history Christmas lasts for much longer. The feast marking the end of Christmas is called “Epiphany.” It recalls the visit of three Magi, or wise men, to the infant Jesus, and their sense of wonder at the encounter. It is the 12th day after Christmas and closes the Christmas season. In the Latin rite of the Catholic Church, Epiphany celebrates the revelation that Jesus was the Son of God, the King of Kings!
While the traditional date for the feast is Jan. 6, in the United States the celebration of Epiphany is moved to the Sunday between Jan. 2 and Jan. 8. In 2024, it is celebrated on Jan. 7.
That said, we want to take the time today to thank all of you who have made us part of their joyful events (officially and unofficially :D). It was an honor and hopefully, we made those events worthwhile for you to look back on!
Shout out to these events that we were officially part of (see reel in my next post) and to Barkada AVP for letting us collaborate with you on your events featured below! :D
For many Western Christian denominations, the Twelve Days of Christmas, or Christmastide, is a 12-day festive religious season that celebrates the Nativity of Jesus. The twelve days represent the time that it took for the three wise men or kings to travel to Bethlehem to visit baby Jesus and offer him gifts.
The 12 Days of Christmas was traditionally celebrated from December 25 to January 5 (which we’ll explain in this article). But some people celebrate the day after Christmas (December 26) through Epiphany (January 6). Still, others say it goes from the sunset of Dec 24 to the sunset of the day before Epiphany. So hey, I'm not really late! 🤣
