🚨 Artist Announcement: Sueños 🚨
band delivers dream-like states through music that navigates dualities, blurring lines between light and dark, loud and quiet, material and immaterial. Formed in 2021, the band bonds over early psych rock records, melding washy psych grooves with intricate jazz-inspired patterns to create lengthy bohemian soundscapes. The lineup features long-time friends Hanno Jansen van Vuuren (drums) and Hough Maritz (vocals, guitar), along with Lou Swart (bass, synth) and Pieter Labuschagne (vocals, guitar, sax).
After moving to Cape Town, Sueños became known in the DIY psych rock scene for their visceral, nuanced sets, shifting between manic and subdued. Their 2023 release, “Anima,” a 5-minute psychedelic odyssey, has built excitement for their debut EP. The track blends fuzz and reverb-soaked guitars with intricate rhythms and saxophone, exploring the human condition.
Sueños has performed at top venues and festivals across South Africa, including That 70’s Fest, Jua Festival of Sunshine, Pangea, and Festival of Friends. With their debut EP on the horizon, they invite listeners to dive into their self-reflective and cathartic sonic journey.
