Here’s a little tip to help revive droopy flowers. Simply snip the ends of the stems and place them in boiling water! Yes, boiling water! Just be sure to angle the heads away from the steam.
I do this as part of my conditioning for certain flowers (I always do this for chamomile which is notorious for drooping, but have done it for other flowers and even for foliage such as viburnum). Sometimes it doesn’t work but more often than not, it revives flowers which are a little dehydrated but still have some life left in them…
These snapdragons were in a bouquet I placed on my cart which somehow weren’t placed back correctly in the bucket so the stems were out of water for a period of time. I won’t be selling these specific stems but I thought it was a good opportunity to show how droopy flowers don’t always need to be thrown out…
Fun fact: less than half of the weddings booked with Cogs Floristry so far this season are for a Saturday!
I love a weekday wedding. As a result, I have given notice to my school that I will be ending my contract at the end of this term to allow me the flexibility to prioritize weekday weddings and events. I will still be relief teaching mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays but only when I don’t have a wedding scheduled.
My calendar is quickly filling up, with October and November dates now fully booked, and February 2025 also close to capacity. EDIT: SOLD. There’s a lot of love for Australian and South African natives right now, so I thought I’d play around with a bit of leftover twisted willow I had on hand and this is what I came up with 🫶 One only $40, on the cart. Aah, September! For me, September means birthdays 🥳 🎉 Every man and their dog seems to have a birthday in September, myself included (but we won’t talk about that 👵🏻🫢😂) but I am super excited that Cogs Floristry will be turning 2 at the end of the month! As a microbusiness, I don’t always have a lot of flowers on hand but on the flip side, I visit the markets regularly (and to be honest, it’s one of my favourite parts of my week, even if I am up at 4:30) so my flowers are fresh and I try to turn them over quickly.

Newman’s Nursery is absolutely bursting with magnolias, camellias and blossoms right now 🌸😍💗 I couldn’t resist swooning over this magnificent magnolia.
With a growing business, my teaching job as well as the responsibilities of being a full-time single parent, lately I’m finding that there are simply not enough hours in the day. I’m not yet at the point to either give up my other job or employ someone to help with the business, therefore I have l reached the point where something has got to give. 😔
As I move into weddings and events, and with increasing awareness of my flower cart, I have made the difficult decision to scale back my deliveries to only deliver within 5km of Salisbury to better manage my time and focus on these areas of the business. This will commence on Monday 2nd September. I will still offer free delivery for those deliveries within 5km of Salisbury.

⚙️💐This post is more for my new customers.
It’s our policy to deliver flowers once payment has been received. However, there have been instances recently whereby payment from a new customer can sometimes take up to 24 hours to land in my account. If you place an order for the first time, could you please either DM or SMS me confirmation that payment has been made so I can deliver your flowers promptly. I’d hate for your delivery to be delayed until it’s processed.
I also ask for new visitors to the cart to also please SMS or DM me confirmation of payment. I have a security doorbell on the cart, but the honesty system has been a huge success and I’m overwhelmed by how everyone has been so honest and respectful of this payment method. However, I have had instances whereby flowers have been paid for but the payment has been delayed. A quick DM or SMS that payment is on the way just let’s me know they haven’t been stolen.
For some reason it doesn’t seem to impact returning customers, I assume there’s extra security processes in place when transferring money to someone for the first time.

I’ve had a few people reach out asking if I will be doing anything specifically for SSO week this year so yesterday I bought some of these gorgeous vintage inspired bud vases specifically for SSO Week.
As different schools seem to celebrate SSO week at different times, starting next week until the end of August, these will be available on my cart for just $20 each. I can deliver to schools on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 3 or more (pre-orders only) or individually if within 5km from Salisbury.

Perhaps it’s this glorious weather but have been inundated with enquiries about my pink jars today 🌸 💖 I have sold the medium jar in my previous post but have since made a replacement as well as a similar in small ($30) and large ($45) I also have a bouquet available ($35) as well as a small $15 jar 🌸 I will also have some other fresh arrangements on the cart.
Unfortunately I am unable to hold any for collection tomorrow as I won’t be home. I will place them all on the cart around 7:30am but can’t respond to enquiries during the day and won’t get home from work until about 4pm. I will be bringing the cart in about 4:30 as I have a commitment tomorrow evening. However, the cart will be fully loaded with flowers as well as what’s left of my dried flowers which are below half price.

After almost selling out of flowers over the weekend, I have restocked the cart with beautiful flowers fresh in from this morning’s markets. I couldn’t resist two of my absolute favourite flowers, ranunculus and sweet peas, which feature in this medium sized bloom jar. I also have a couple of bouquets, some small native jars and more.
Thank you to all the lovely people who have visited my cart over the past few months. I’m overwhelmed with how well it is going, and have received lots of positive feedback. I really appreciate your support of my small business and it’s lovely to meet some new and regular customers face to face.

A bit of a peek inside my floristry studio 👀 When I say microbusiness, I mean microbusiness 😂 I sacrificed my master bedroom and moved into my tiny spare room to create this space but I wouldn’t have it any other way 🫶 It has everything I need without overflowing into the rest of the house. By working from home, I don’t have expensive overheads such as rent etc, so this helps to keep my costs down for my customers, and by introducing my new flower cart, I can now offer a service where you can come and pick ready made arrangements, weather permitting. ⚙️💐

This time last year, my life was a mess, in more ways than one. My confidence and self-esteem were shattered. I decided to enroll in Floristry at TAFE in the hope that it would reignite that fire in me and give me something to look forward to each week. From the very first class, I began feeling like me again. I have made great friends and wonderful memories.
