RE: Dr. Alecs Hywel’s notes meeting Patient S.J. - TAPE 01
ANOMALY: Eve
INCURSION DATE: June 8th, 1982
"After the kerfuffle surrounding Nixon’s incompetence, the dissolution of MK Ultra was most certainly a devastating loss to our probe into the human psyche. Helms’ hasty destruction of years of research is unforgivable! Nevertheless, I’ve been quietly speaking to Dr. Cameron to continue his research on Subproject 68. We’ve been quite interested in a particular patient’s progress.
Patient S.J. came to Subproject 68 under the impression that she would be receiving treatment for her severe insomnia. Patient S.J. consented to a polysomnography to determine any other underlying conditions that could be affecting her abnormal sleep patterns. She explained when she was able to sleep, she would experience vivid, life-like dreams. Most interestingly, they all seemed to be recurring dreams. She explained the dreams felt as they had some sort of order to them, as if each dream added to the previous one.
While prepping the patient, she fainted. Interestingly, the censors that were connected showed signs of REM sleep. She was dreaming almost immediately after losing consciousness! While an interesting development, we ran some blood work to determine if the patient may be anemic. The results indicated she was actually pregnant. I consulted with Dr. Cameron if we should even continue due to her unknown pregnancy, but he merely shrugged and said, "If the patient didn’t disclose she was pregnant, perhaps she didn't know," and urged to continue with the tests. While I was conflicted with the decision to proceed, the readings we gathered during her syncope, piqued my interest.
… I dismissed the attending nurses and advised I would continue the procedure alone. When the patient was in a more amenable state, I asked if we could continue with the tests. While She seemed desperate to get a decent night’s rest, she seemed hesitant to allow me to continue. While applying the rest of the censors, she gripped my hand tightly. I advised her that a sleep study is completely harmless and not invasive. But her grasp tightened and she pulled me close to her. Her voice was shaky and her palms sweaty. She nervously explained that a figure appeared to her while she was unconscious. She described it as a tall, slender character devoid of a face; that it begged to be released. Perhaps it was left over delirium from her fainting spell or nerves about the procedure, but could this be a part of her recurring dream? I helped her recline in the bed and encouraged her to relax, but she seemed increasingly reluctant. Readings showed an accelerated heart rate, she almost seemed terrified to fall asleep. I administered a light sedative to help calm her nerves. She continued to hold my hand, and stare at me in a horrified silence, until she finally fell asleep."
