Nostalgia... Unchained Melody in 2024

A few years ago, my world stopped for just a short while. Although he'd been warning me for a while, I just kept saying "you're gonna be here forever". I found out on FB, and then the world halted for me. I still remember walking into the room, and seeing that face which usually was so animated and filled with joy, this time ethereal and other worldly like. The realisation that my soul mate in music and in friendship had taken his last breath was too much to bear. Thank God I had Sheldon Dickson on my one side and my nephew Creighton Gabriel on my right. I surely needed some help to prop me up that day. You're never too far from me Steve Fataar ... I cannot ever explain what our wonderful connection meant. The day you left, a whole lot of genius and goodness took flight too! Im sure you're somewhere spreading the flame of love ...Missed eternally ❤️

Introducing The Beating Pulse....
And our guest Senta Seele who performed an amazing bellydance sequence to one of our rhythms mid-set.
We made our debut at The Durban Street Food Festival on 25th September.
Although we are percussion driven, it's not just drumming aimlessly. The music is arranged and rehearsed. Some familiar songs have been reworked and included in our repertoire, as well. Plus, there are group vocals and harmonicas included and more instruments will be featured in the future.
We will invite a range of guests to appear and perform with us as well....to add variety, but the main focus shall always be on percussion, which is our unique selling point.

Today, Saturday 23rd Sept, is a sad one for me.
My long time close friend and former band mate, Riaz Carim took his final breath.
He was a fine guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, and we collaborated on gigs, at events, in the studio, you name it, we did it.
Most of all as a human he had exceptional qualities, which encouraged others to feel worthy and comfortable.
Besides musical abilities his gardening skills and knowledge benefitted those he assisted.
A spiritual man, who led an exemplary life, he was much loved by his family and friends. I value the friendship we developed over the years.
Rest well Riaz 🙏

On this Friday, 27th March, 2020, the very first day of South Africa's lockdown, as promised, we bring The Rehearsal Room(established by our Steve Fataar), at Zacks....direct to you.
This is my rendition of the soul blues classic 'Georgia On My Mind' with part of The Rehearsal Room crew, Sheldon Dickson, Danny Chetty and Graham Ellis....
Only the vivacious Lucille Cornelius is not in the clip....
I have asked the others to post a video of a performance of theirs they prefer to share....so that is something to look forward to today....
By the way The Lounge Room Sessions are not restricted to The Rehearsal Room's core unit....
