Troon RNLI Lifeboat Station Open Day
From 12pm until 4pm on Saturday 13 July 2024, visit Troon RNLI lifeboat station for our annual lifeboat station Open Day.
See aboard our RNLI Trent class all weather lifeboat 'RNLB Jim Moffat' and D class inshore lifeboat 'Sheena' until 3pm when our lifeboats launch for a display within the harbour area.
You will also get the chance to speak to our volunteer lifeboat crew to find out about the training we carry out and the variety of callouts we attend. For the kids, try on some lifeboat crew gear and see how long its takes to get kitted for a callout.
At the lifeboat station you'll also be able to see the history of the lifeboat station and our RNLI Water Safety Team will be available for advice when you are heading out onto the water.
There will also be RNLI gifts on sale, a BBQ by Troon Round Table, Tea Room with home baking and Raffles as well as representatives from other local emergency services including Police Scotland, HM Coastguard, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service. (operational demands permitting).
Please be aware that due to the number of emergency vehicles parking adjacent to the lifeboat station there will be no parking on the access road to the lifeboat station and parking will be on Harbour Road.
The Open Day is scheduled to finish at 4pm. We are aware that some of our posters locally say the Open Day will be on until 4.30pm. We apologise for this confusion. Due to this, after 4pm will still allow access to the lifeboats and the lifeboat station until 4.30pm should anyone attend due this mistake however other emergency services will no longer be present at the lifeboat station.
This is a great day out for the whole family, so why not come along and support your local RNLI lifeboat station and celebrate 200 years of the RNLI.
