The value of investing in your wedding florist 🌹 .

Now that you’ve gotten a peek behind the curtains (or behind the price tag, in this case) from our post earlier this week, we want to highlight also the value of investing in a professional wedding florist.

The impact of having stunning, artfully-designed flowers on your wedding day is, on its own, a major reason why there’s a difference between hiring a reputable florist, and purchasing your own flowers at a local grocery store.

They have the unique ability to completely transform a space- whether it be the stunning scenery of a national park or farm, a backyard ceremony in the garden, or a funky fun industrial space in the city. Flowers are beautiful, connect and ground us to the natural world, and can provide something deeply meaningful for this important life transition.

An experienced + professional florist will not only provide you with breathtaking florals, but also personal, unique touches that invite you to soften into the present movement and fully experience the beauty + love around you.

We always strive to approach each floral piece as a work of art - tuning in with the flowers of a particular season of your wedding, as well as the energy of the clients we are designing for to support, hold & celebrate the couple’s love through flowers.

When you hire a professional florist, you are choosing an expert with years of experience in the field, someone with an eye for design that has invested deeply into their education, and has brought countless floral visions to life for a wide array of different types of elopements & weddings.

For us, this experience allows us to create the highest level of unique artistry with incredible blooms for each and every client who hires us.

We always seek to design in a way the aligns with the time and place of a wedding, so that the flowers feel natural and connected to their surroundings.

For this intimate Mt. Baker adventure elopement, Brooke + Alex planned to start off their day with an intimate brunch surrounded by lush fir trees, with the dappled morning sun peeking in through the evergreen foliage- captured perfectly by the very talented !

The golden tones of the flowers were an ideal match for both the time of the year- early summer- but also the place of this forested celebration brunch. The glowing honey tones of the “Honey Dijon” roses were juxtaposed with the whimsical, ethereal cosmos + agrostemma; and the textures of the yarrow + bunny tail grassed mirrored the native foliages of the forest. The phlox + sweet peas offered a softness kindred with the golden hour light, while the eucalyptus found connection with the green tones of the native plants and trees.

These arrangements were made entirely from our cutting garden + local Whatcom county grower, which always make the designs all the more magical. Thank you to for bringing this very special day together!

A magical wildflower-inspired wedding on a HOT late July wedding last summer ✨

The garden is absolutely bursting at the seams this time of year, and we used a variety of seasonal blooms including dahlias, foxglove, queen Anne’s lace, yarrow, echinacea, cosmos, zinnias, phlox, scabiosa, and koko loko garden roses, mixed with an array of textural elements including flowering oregano, mugwort, bunny tail grasses, frosted explosion grass, and blueberry foliage for a touch of minimalist greenery.

Seasonality played a big role in the floral arrangements for this wedding; for example, the native queen Anne’s lace we incorporated into many of the designs are only available for a few weeks out of the year! We strive to be in a relationship with the beauty of each season, highlighting botanical elements that are truly specific to that moment in time.

We also worked largely out of our cutting garden for this wedding, which allows us the very special opportunity to have been in connection with almost every single stem in each bouquet we create- from planting the seeds, to nurturing the plants as they grow, to eventually designing with the blooms to create a one-of-a-kind piece of floral art for a really meaningful moment in someone’s life.

Anything that we didn’t grow was from some of our favorite local farms, including Free Range Flowers and Wildrye Farm.

Once again we got to work with a fantastic team of vendors to help bring Celia and Ben’s dream wedding to life. Thank you to the local vendors below who made this late summer wedding at the Farm on Van Wyck so lovely!

Hello! Carmen here with a little support + love from my wonderful family- Dan, Dallas + Keemau.

I found floral design first and foremost through purchasing and developing our 5-acre property, and our now ever-growing garden. Transitioning to working in floral design followed as a natural process, and has offered me the perfect medium to express all of my greatest passions- gardening, sustainable living, artful expression, and connecting to others through nature & food.

Plants and nature serve as the most powerful inspiration in my designs, and I love to work with my clients to create intentional designs that speak to each unique individual or couple. We have put all of our heart into this business and place great emphasis on creating an enjoyable client experience!

When not bumping around the garden, you’ll find me in the kitchen cooking with our home-grown produce, spending time with my loving partner Dan and our sweet (and mischievous) cat & dog , or soaking up the sun somewhere out in the our incredible PNW.

Tell me a bit about yourself in the comments: Are you getting excited for Spring and to get back in your garden?

The Noctua Florals Boutique Flower Farm is nestled in the foothills of the Cascades, with both flowers and vegetables alike grown throughout our 5-acre property.

We use beyond organic & regenerative practices, rebuilding soil organic matter, providing habitat for pollinators, and restoring soil biodiversity. Not only does this positively impact our planet by encouraging carbon downdraw, improving water cycles, reducing pollution, enhancing biodiversity, and more – it produces a level of beauty and vibrancy in our blooms that you can feel!

The freshness in scent, vibrancy of color, and quality of flowers that come straight from the farm is incredible- the beauty of flowers is a true form of nourishment and we all deserve to experience them at their very best!

We have put our heart and soul into building our house mostly by ourselves, investing time & resources into our garden enough that we now feed ourselves almost completely from what we grow, raising animals in the most humane way possible, restoring native habitat, and creating a place where all different types of plants, animals and the two of us can really thrive and give back to Mother Nature.

It has been a lot of work, but it has been the most rewarding experience of my life. The flowers we grow and the work we do here really bring us a deep level of joy and fulfillment that we feel blessed to have! You can read even more about our practices on our website.

To our fellow flower-growers out there, I am linking some of our favorite seed companies below so you can check them out as well.

Last November we created floral designs for Kate & Graham’s elegant late fall wedding, an event that celebrated all things local greenery + foliages along with plenty of organic & locally-grown flowers.

These botanical treasures, including locally-grown eucalyptus, abelia, elaeagnus, silver poplar + cafe au lait dahlias, hydrangea, zinnias, and heirloom roses, were a stunning complement to the natural landscape of Captain Whidbey Inn, a beautiful wedding venue on Whidbey Island.

Despite a power outage, wind storm, no running water, the couple were great sports and the day turned out beautifully.

Whatever the season when you are getting married, we love the opportunity to use these unique and interesting floral elements to speak to the time and place of your celebration- and we hope you love perusing these photos by Berty Mandagie Photography as much as we have been! Read even more about this event we designed for via our blog!
