A much needed reward after a long, hot day working in the North Carolina Mountains… was a perfect end to the day-super refreshing with tropical notes and good minerality and to top that off, we got to use our new fire poker from -fire picture with poker was too dark so sharing the picture when I picked it up-

Had a great time High Country Tea & Grazing Room yesterday. Stopped by and checked out the new tea room in downtown West Jefferson. The atmosphere made for lots of laughs and good conversation. Food was outstanding-those cheddar biscuits with pimento cheese and house made pickles…amazing…tomato soup…amazing. Two pots of tea completed our experience…highly recommend the strawberry hibiscus tea!

Lunch in between yard work and staining the deck…Fresh homemade focaccia, arugula, freshly picked Sicilian tomato from the garden, fresh mozzarella, mortadella and drizzle of balsamic-I love summer foods❤️😋

After getting some much needed rest, we got started with a delicious breakfast at our hotel- Hotel Villa Taormina and then made our way to meet our cooking class tour. I can’t say enough about this experience. It is a must do if in Taormina Chef Massimo cooking class does the best cooking class I have ever attended. I cannot wait to recreate this for friends and family…or come with friends and family…local wines served with our courses…

One of my top 3 grapes…
Carménère is Chile’s flagship grape variety. It’s a late ripening grape that is often mistaken for Merlot and has a herbaceousness often associated with Cabernet Sauvignon. That could be because it’s related to both of those grapes!

Go to @traderjoes and grab this easy drinking rose. It’s perfect for these hot summer days. It’s a blend of 25% Grenache Gris, 25% Grenache Noir, 20% Caladoc, 15% Pinot Gris and 15% Cinsault from the south of France. Each varietal was vinified separately and then aged for a short period of time in cement tanks keeping the flavors bright and fresh. The wine has just 2 g/L of residual sugar. It’s also a bargain under $10!
