This is for those who were refused base on purpose of visit/study.

IRCC does not believe you are applying to study in Canada to enhance your level of education and your job prospects in your homeland based on your choice of programs. They most likely believe you have dual intent to study and stay.

They may question why you have chosen the program of study you have. The logical progression is that you do a master’s after a bachelor’s degree rather than coming half way around the world to do a lesser credential like a 1-year diploma. People who want to immigrate do that to gain more CRS points towards PR.

There is nothing wrong with studying in Canada to improve your PR chances. But IRCC will reject study permits when that dual intent is obvious.

I get that International students who want to immigrate want to minimize the time and cost of studying in Canada but when their choice of programs raises red flags, their study permits get rejected.

So carefully choose your program of study and then provide a convincing argument in your SOP that studying in Canada and gaining skilled Canadian work experience on a post-graduation work permit will also enhance your chance of employment and promotion back home.

: We will end the temporary pause on Express Entry draws and resume inviting qualified candidates to apply for permanent residence in July.

: Starting in mid-June, former international students in Canada whose post-graduation work permits expired or are expiring between Jan 31, 2022 and Dec 31, 2022, will be able to get an additional open work permit of up to 18 months duration.

: New measures for temporary resident to permanent resident pathway applicants will take effect in June, including:
• longer duration open work permits (OWP)
• OWP eligibility for immediate family members outside of Canada who were included in the PR application
