All week long, we’ve been sharing “happy holiday hacks”: Tips to encourage self-care and help you make the holiday season feel a little brighter in the midst of grief. Our last hack is…
🌻 𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙍𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙨: Earlier this week, we talked about carrying on traditions that your departed loved one(s) cherished. Today, we want to encourage you to create new rituals or traditions in your loved one’s honor. These new traditions can help you build new connections with friends and family, and ease into a new normal as you grieve.
For example, thanksgiving is right around the corner. You could include your loved one’s favorite dish or dessert in the spread every year, or follow one of their tried and true recipes if they liked to cook or bake. If Christmas was your loved one’s favorite holiday, consider having the whole family wear their most festive Christmas sweaters to Christmas dinner and share memories together.
Remember, everyone's grief journey is unique. The key is to find what methods of expression work best for you and provide the comfort and healing you need during the holiday season. Your loved one would want you to continue living a full life as you carry them in your heart. Celebrate Still can help you do that. Drop a 💚 in the comments if you need us. We’re here to walk alongside you; to offer support and care. Happy holidays!
