STATEMENT VEILS!👰‍♀️👰👰‍♂️

One trend that’s projected to be popular in 2024 is the statement veil (and embroidered ones at that).

I’ve been calling mine the “Story Veil” & here are some details you should know about it:
• She’s Cathedral Length & super soft (from Amazon!) ⛪️
• There are 5 motifs from throughout our relationship spread along the bottom (all hand-drawn by me). ✍️
• My aunt was the one who embroidered the veil for me & she finished it the day before the wedding.🙃
• My hope is to start a tradition that each member of the family who gets married after us adds their story. 🤍

I was talking to a bride friend the other day about a common problem I see with grooms. We know you guys mean well, and we know you want to help, but if I’m the first one to tell you this, here it is:

Your partner shouldn’t be your manager in the wedding planning process.

You know that hobby you love? You didn’t know everything there was to know about it since birth. You spent time researching and practicing. Google was probably your best friend!

If you are the partner with an interest in wedding planning it probably feels super exciting at first, but this whole process was not DESIGNED to be done alone. You WILL burn out if you continuously feel isolated with your joy, your stress, and your tasks… no matter how “Type A” you are.

Grooms, it’s time to do better. Stop saying things like, “I’ll do whatever you need just tell me what you want” and start saying, “It’s my wedding too, so let’s divide responsibilities and set a time to check back in.”

This is the best time to come together as a couple and figure out how you’re going to figure life out together! No one has to do this alone.

"WeDdInG PlAnNiNg iS a MaRaThOn, NoT a SpRiNt." -says every wedding planner ever (including me).

It can be SO easy to get swept up in the initial excitement and go so hard in your wedding planning that you very quickly burn out. Then you're left in an emotional vegetative state where the LAST thing you want to do is touch ANYTHING related to your wedding for like... 6 years.

The key to making this process ENJOYABLE and FULFILLING from start to finish is to slow down every once in a while and celebrate milestones when you can. Use your wedding planning journey to create connection and build a relationship with your partner and everyone else who is helping you in this process.

Here are 10 milestones you should consider celebrating and some really fun ideas on how you can celebrate them! Let me know which one is your favorite!

Wow, wow, WOW! It's OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL! Now booking for 2024 and beyond! 🤩

I cannot tell you what a dream this has been. So many couples out there deserve their beautiful story told, and they deserve help that meets them where they are. AAnd Then Weddings serves couples through monthly virtual planning service subscriptions, day-of coordination for folks in the East Texas area, and wedding design services for the ones who need to SEE it. 🤍

Let me tell you, I would NOT have survived without my coordinator. She was my knower-of-all-things, my panic-button call, and the calm in the eye of the storm on my wedding day. I'm overjoyed and excited to be able to offer at least some of what she gave me to others, and I can't WAIT to meet the couples I get to go on this adventure with.

Go for the venue that’s so pretty it makes you cry. 🥹

There were so many special things about our day, but the one thing I will always be grateful for is having a venue that we could create memories around. 🤍

We utilized so many elements from the space into the actual design of our event that we hardly had any decor, we were able to repurpose almost all of our florals, and we could create pockets of really cool features that our guests still talk about! ✨

We didn’t just drop our wedding into any old space (through I still believe I could have married him anywhere). We used what was already there to create one big, beautiful event that will forever be the most aesthetic memory I have!😂🪩

So yeah… find you a venue that’s so pretty it makes you cry.

The name is Alex Andrews-Melton (that last part is ✨new✨). I’m a newlywed, a dog mom, an organization connoisseur, communications specialist, and detail queen who absolutely LOVES helping thoughtful couples create amazing authentic experiences and memories to last a lifetime. 🤍

My wedding day vibe is to be the calm in the eye of the storm. 🌪️ To my couples I’m the voice of reason and to the vendors I’m the connector who helps build the DREAM TEAM. 🤓 As you can tell from the statement above, I’m the biggest nerd you’re likely to meet. I love all things Star Wars, Harry Potter, and you’d best BELIEVE I’m pumped for the final season of Stranger Things. You know that meme where the guy has all the strings connecting to pieces of paper around the room and he’s got the crazy eyes… that’s me and just about any fan theory. They bring me joy.😂

🐶 My husband and I have a Malinois puppy named Rogue and she is the cutest chaos goblin of my life. Yes I will send pics upon request.

💍 I just married the love of my life on the 10 year anniversary of our first date… on the day of an annular solar eclipse. ☀️ He’s also a nerd, my absolute best friend, and the biggest cheerleader I have.

🦄 I’m currently in my ✨healing girl era✨ and I’m a big fan of new spiritual practices, gym outfit inspo to make it FUN, & recipes that avoid dairy and tomatoes because she’s a little sensitive.😅
