'Taking Back the Groove' Documentary Out Now!
Big shoutout to the Manjumasi boys atish and Mark Slee for executive producing the award-winning short film 'Taking Back the Groove' (alongside Wu Tang's Raekwon and comedian The REAL Russell Peters) - plus music by atish!
While the documentary focuses on Bronx-born disco legend Richie Weeks and his ongoing battle to own the rights to his musical catalog, it is an all-too-familiar story for many musicians victim to predatory contracts. Congrats on the enormous response so far and for sharing this important message with the masses!

Fun fact: 'Taking Back the Groove' producer Roddy Lindsay was part of the SF House-Heads collective with atish and Mark back in the day. #SFhousehistory

Jay Tripwire - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2023
We’ve been waiting on this one for a while now… Jay Tripwire's Robot Heart set from last year's burn is out now! Link in comments to listen. 🖤
In his own words:
“On the first night of my first burn this past year, I found myself in the (apparently quite rare) position of playing my first ever DJ set at Burning Man on the fabled Robot Heart bus.
It wasn’t until I arrived at the RH bus after completing my first deep playa bike ride that I was acutely aware of the true nature of this rolling musical monolith. The bus is a mobile sound station, a portable dance party of epic proportions. And where it went, sound would emit, humans would dance, and energy would exchange.
I got to the decks atop the bus, which was well-stocked with every Burning Man archetype I had ever imagined, and many more. Musically, I had no idea how I would be received, but I pushed forward just doing my thing in a way that I thought would translate into this alien, yet strangely familiar setting: a sound system, a DJ booth, and a dance floor.
Listening back to this mix, I am struck with an element of “you had to be there,” that it is difficult for a recording to properly convey the sentiment that myself and the audience experienced that night. When I DJ-it’s very human - I don’t use sync, looping, or Rekordbox and I never pre-plan anything. I use the CDJs as though they are turntables, and my style is especially discernible in this mix.
A big thank you to the Robot Heart crew, especially Benjamin Alexander and John Shaffer for giving me such a warm welcome and trusting this BM virgin with the reigns of their seasoned chariot, as well as Gunita Nagpaul for making my journey to the playa possible. Maybe we‘ll do it again sometime.”
