Day 4 & 5 of camp! Smaller group!
Ice breakers per usual! 💕
- we then got self care workbook with lots of check ins and reflection activities! We talked about what self care is to us and going over different self care strategies. We did a journal prompt from the workbook and went over it.
We practiced mindfulness coloring self care sheets.
We created ourselves an arrangement and wrote a card message to ourselves to see when we look at the arrangement.

Day 5
Ice breaker Jenga! Answered questions on the block we pulled.
We then went to see the movie of choice Super Mario Bros!
Lunch at water burger!
Finished the day off created bud vases again and our reflection activity going over what we got out of camp overall.
DAY 3 of Camp yesterday!
Our dress day theme for Wednesday was pajama day!
We do different ice breaker activities every morning to get the day started! Our questions yesterday were:
If you could get yourself anything what would you get? Why?
Describe your perfect day.
If you could have a super power what would it be? Why?
Everyone got their camp shirts Wednesday morning.
Since day 1 a big thing we’d been going over in camp was how to determine the quality of florals and how to choose fresh florals that will last. We took a mini trip to Jones Crossing H-E-B and each individual got a $20 limit to choose their own florals for our hands on activity. It was a very fun activity and fun to watch everyone really contemplate which flowers they wanted for our project and working on staying in their budget.
We came back and had our lunch break, our group likes to watch their favorite shows/movies during that time.
After lunch each individual got to process their own florals as we did as a group on day 1, on their own. Our floral activity for the day that everyone decided on was to make a floral hair piece. I did a demonstration on different mechanics they could use
To make this piece. (Using floral adhesive, wire, or hot glue.)
Everyone created beautiful pieces and they were all naturals! This group really has enjoyed letting their creativity flow and I hardly get asked for any help!
Certificates were passed out for those who were apart of our 3 day session.
We ended the day with some rounds of Jenga, and did our reflection activity- sharing our highlights of the camp and everyone got to take their remaining florals that they picked that day home.
Camp Day 2 yesterday recap!
Started our day off with our ice breaker activity, fun questions to just get everyone to engage with each other and to share a bit of our personalities with each other.
We then had a generosity activity! We chose the local domestic violence shelter and watched a short film on domestic violence and watched some short videos on teen violence. We spent some time talking about the different types of abuse and also warning signs of abuse and how to get help. We then created bud vases for the women in the shelter and also for the staff and created uplifting card messages.
After lunch we took a small trip to drop the shelter arrangements off at the Twin City Mission admin building.
We ended our day creating small foam dish arrangements. I made it a point to let the group know that there is never a right or wrong way in floristry design. (Unless it has to do with the health of the florals) I wanted the group to be comfortable and let
their designs show their own personal touch, and that they didn’t have to follow any step by step- but to let their own creativity flow.
The group chose to watch a movie during our creative time and chose the Spiderman movie. (The first one😁)
Before dismissal we did our reflection activity - rose, bud, thorn method and shared with each other.
Recap on Day 1 of Flower Camp yesterday!
- Our main focus for Day 1 was getting comfortable with our space and with each other. We started our day with introductions, ice breaker activities, and just chatting about everyone’s interests! We talked about self care and why it’s important and what we all do for self care! We made a playlist with everyone’s favorite songs to enjoy while we are together.
- We discussed what they were looking foward to in camp. We discussed:
the things we already know about flowers, what comes to mind when we think floristry and what it means to us.
- We worked on identifying different flowers and their characteristics and did a “guess that flower” activity. We then did a worksheet to see what flowers we remembered.
- We got a flower shipment from our wholesaler and we talked about the process flowers go through in transport and got hands on with how to properly process and condition flowers. We talked about identifying quality flowers when receiving shipments.
- We then got another delivery from Katie from May’s Flower Farm from Caldwell! She talked to us about the process to grow flowers and the benefits of supporting local.
- All day snack bar, and we got cicis pizza for lunch!
- At the end of the day we got hands on and created our own bouquets to take home! (Very sad I didn’t get photos of the bouquets, everyone did awesome!)
