H + S met during their sophomore year in high school where they shared a love for ultimate frisbee and were both part of the school musical. Their bond grew stronger as they spent more time together, which led them to becoming best friends.

Their love story took a romantic turn when Hunter asked Skyler to Junior prom and the rest is history.

In 156 days, they will become Mr. and Mrs. Bentz this fall!

HAPPY AAPI HERITAGE MONTH!👧🏻

Today, I stand as an Asian-owned business, but it wasn’t always like this. I grew up in a small town bordering the Mississippi River with less than 12,000 people. Vietnamese people are known to have nail salons and my family was known for owning the very first nail salon in our city in 1995 to the early 2000’s. Me and my siblings were the only Vietnamese kids in our schools. We were laughed at because of our size, height, and appearance, so people assumed that we were weak. I was always afraid to tell people where my family was from because I knew the jokes and comments would hit me harder. With that being said, if I have learned anything, it is that I didn’t have to wait for other people to become more accepting. I had to accept myself and my identity first.

Let’s continue to celebrate our artists, innovators, entrepreneurs, small business owners… ALL👏🏼YEAR👏🏼LONG👏🏼

In other words, I am Vietnamese-American and am proud to be a banana or tw***ie, whatever society may call it these days.
