James Lee Williams - 'The Vivienne'.
1992 - 2025

We were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of James Lee Williams, otherwise known as 'The Vivienne' - Winner of Ru Paul's Drag Race UK - Season One.

James was a big fan of Wentworth and especially loved one actor in particular - Danielle Cormack as Bea Smith.

We were in contact with James on several occasions about the possibility of them coming along to attend one of our events especially when Danielle was in attendance. Unfortunately due to James' busy schedule and career beginning to take off taking them on tour, it was difficult to make the stars align.

What has truly saddened us is reading through some of the comments and posts on various SM platforms following James' passing - it's clear to see homophobia is alive and well. There have been so many nasty and horrible messages posted by keyboard warriors.

What SSE has become known for (aside from delivering the best fan events possible!) is creating a safe space for everyone to come together and be yourself.

We stand by all our friends in the lgbtqia+ community and all those who strive to live their lives without fear. Be proud of who you are and never ashamed of following the things in life that make you happy! 🙏

We will raise a glass to you at our events this year, James.

Rest in peace.

5 years ago! 7th December 2019 🌟

We were delighted and honoured to be joined by Maggie Kirkpatrick following the release of her book, 'The Gloves Are Off'. A brilliant book with lots of wonderful stories from many decades working in showbiz. We also got a few mentions in the book, having known Maggie for many years and have been one of her favourite event organisers for her public appearances. Always a joy and so many wonderful memories of our times with Maggie! 😊

Events update 🌟

To all our wonderful followers in the UK and around the world: we’ve heard your concerns regarding rumours circulating about SSE on social media, and we’re happy to clarify things. First, Screen Star Events is here to stay! 🥰
We’re committed to bringing you the quality, intimate events that you know and love.

Not only are we not stopping, we’re expanding. Starting in 2025, we’ll be offering events that feature UK actors. We live in the UK; we know our country and fans best, and now we’ll feature our brilliant home-grown talent.
At the same time, we’re long-time fans of Australian shows, and we’ll continue to feature Australian stars in our events whenever the stars align to make that happen. It was our love of Australian shows that started SSE in the first place - with various challenges along the way, especially post Covid, but we've always stayed committed to our goals.

As we mentioned in a previous statement, we may pause a little in the number of Aussie events (to give us time to provide UK events), but we have no plans to stop! Already we have events lined up with Nicole Da Silva and Libby Tanner in March, and Pamela Rabe in August!

Our priority is and has always been providing fans with the best, most intimate events possible. Please remember that we’re fans ourselves—SSE is entirely run by fans, and we haven’t been in conversation with other event companies. We’re here for you, and we appreciate all of the dedication, support, and loyalty that you have always shown us in return.

Hi everyone!

We have had a very busy couple of months with lots going on behind the scenes!

We're now getting ready to finish the year in style with Prisoner Unlocked 4 next weekend followed by the wonderful Leah Purcell on Saturday 30th November. Don't miss them!

NEXT YEAR!

As we hinted earlier this year, after seventeen years of doing our very best to bring over as many actors from Australia as we can, after the middle of next year we're going to take a break from Aussie events and are turning our attention to some events for our home grown talent and UK actors. We're not giving the Aussie ones up completely, but we want to devote time to developing other events and expanding our reach and followers.

Before then we still have some very exciting events coming up! There'll be a new date for Danielle and Kate, our annual OZTV celebration and then two events with with glorious Pamela Rabe in August! 🌟

JOIN US TOMORROW NIGHT AT 7PM! 💥

For all our loyal Wentworth fans, we have an event announcement to come tomorrow night at 7pm! 😮
