Mark your calendars! Join us in Rivera Court on Saturday, February 17 from 6-8 p.m. for a special panel with Detroit artists Sydney G. James' Art, Hubert Massey Murals & Frescos, and Mario Moore, as we discuss Diego Rivera's iconic Detroit Industry Murals.

A symbol of creative vibrancy, the Detroit Industry Murals are a hallmark of the DIA and the city of Detroit — having influenced generations of artists, particularly those who are part of Detroit’s vibrant contemporary mural movement. During this discussion, James, Massey, and Moore will discuss Rivera’s enduring influence on mural practice in Detroit: exploring the intersection of mural art, representation, and cultural impact.

Co-organized by Cranbrook Art Museum, this discussion accompanies "Skilled Labor: Black Realism in Detroit," on view through March 3, 2024 at the Cranbrook Art Museum: https://cranbrookartmuseum.org/exhibition/skilled-labor-black-realism-in-detroit/
