So many stunning and wondrous sights yet this is the only pic I got from Shipwrecked 2024. Taken and given to me by someone on the dancefloor 💕 I thought I was going to look like a stunned rabbit but luckily not! 🤣

Much love to for giving me the opportunity to play once again on your legendary stage after a really tough year. Also super thankful for these 2 legends and .artist who were determined I got to play despite my mysterious tech issues!! 🙏

This was a challenging festival on a few levels for myself and many others feeling the deep loss of special people gone way too soon 😪
My heart goes out to and all those who were close to Reuben 💗

Simon would have been celebrating his 47th Birthday at Shipwrecked and also the start of what would have been his year of the Dragon. He would have most definitely been in his element. I miss my adventure buddy so much and still find it really hard to believe he is gone 😪

I am truly grateful for all the beautiful and healing moments of connection, laughter and music that help get me through, this Shipwrecked weekend and every day ❤️🙏❤️

Last Sunday I performed a Tribute set for Simon Deep South Audio - Simon DSA at the fabulous Luscious Festival at Boogie Wonderland in Golden Bay 💕🙌💕

It’s almost a year now since Simon passed and it’s been a huge heart wrenching process putting this together. Not to mention how tricky it was to include so much feeling and his diverse love of music in a mere 22 tracks. Yet however hard, I felt really compelled to honor the incredible human that he was in some way this summer and I am so glad I did it.

We hung a few special portraits of Simon up around the dance floor and everyone there danced their hearts out celebrating him. It was really heartwarming to witness how everyone was really feeling it. Loads of joy and tears on the dance floor. It was truly moving 💕

I am honored to be performing this tribute again on the Lucky Star stage at Splore Festival. 5.30pm Saturday 24th February. The darling themed Splore Festival 2023 was our very last weekend together 😪 This year the theme for Splore is ‘Feasty’ and I can definitely say this set is a genre bending Feast. Just like Simon’s often were ❤️

Thanks so much to Sandy, Riki, Mels Berg, and Jonas Karsten for the opportunity to be able to do this 🙏 It's super important to me and it means a lot 💕

Thanks also to the incredible Harry Charles who dedicated a beautiful track to Simon at the end of his closing set 🙏 And to Sanoi for the absolute gem of a remix of 'Slice of Heaven' I found that you had gifted to Simon at some stage. And I got to hear you play it too!! 🥰

My darling Deep South Audio - Simon DSA Janky mermaid 2023 set has recently been added to the Shipwrecked Festival NZ socials and Soundcloud page along with these words 🙏💗

'Simon Garside AKA DeepSouthAudio (D.S.A) hailed originally from the UK/Wales, residing in Christchurch and Golden Bay NZ for the last 20+ years. Simon sadly passed away earlier this year and will be dearly missed by many in the scene.

Simon was a massive music lover, music collector, DJ, radio host, music reviewer and passionate advocate and supporter of House music and the electronic music scene. His music taste was deep and vast and his Janky mermaid set is a nod to his classic house roots'

I lost my darling Simon Garside Deep South Audio - Simon DSA one month ago last night in the eve at the end of the Darling themed Splore Festival. He was my best friend, my lover, my partner in crime, my adventure buddy and my number one fan.
It's still so incredibly hard to believe he is gone..
I am so very thankful we got to spend such a beautiful and magical last weekend together doing what we loved with all our Lucky Star HQ friends at Splore.

I have just uploaded my Darling Splore set to soundcloud and Mixcloud. This set was inspired by the theme and therefore Simon too ❤ I haven't played electro swing in years but had included some in this mix as it was the genre we bonded over when we first met in 2012.. This mix has now become more potent than ever..

We were both so excited that I got to play before international producer and DJ Franca B2B Madmotormiquel.. I've discovered Franca has very similar taste in music to me so she has become an absolute favorite of mine. It was an absolute honor and seeing her and Madmotormiguel play on the Saturday eve a highlight of the weekend for us both. You can hear her mixing into my last track at the end so I kept it on the recording..
