Wondering what the process is like when you book with me? Here’s a little round up!

✨ First of all, you reach out to me - you can do this via the contact form on my website, or right here on Facebook by sliding into my DMs 😉

✨ I love to arrange a call with clients before we officially book anything. This allows us to ask the important questions and make sure we’re right for each other. I’ll outline my whole process in that call, so there are no surprises 🙅‍♀️

✨ I ask for a £150 deposit to secure me for your wedding date, so you can breathe a sigh of relief that you’ve got your videographer booked and sorted and can move onto other things on your wedding to-do list ✅

✨ I’ll send you a contract to sign. I know contracts are boring, but it’s important to read it through as it helps to protect both of us. 🤝

And that’s it! The rest of my process comes a little closer to your wedding date, but this is how you can tie me down for your special day.

With the cost of living crisis, everyone’s keen to cut back a little on their expenses - but should a cheaper wedding mean a less special one? I don’t think so! Here are five tips to save money on your wedding, without losing any of the glamour!

Pull together a smaller guest list
How often do you actually speak to that second cousin, three times removed? Don’t be guilted into inviting people you barely know and can’t afford. Pull together a more manageable guest list and stick to it.

Get crafty and DIY certain things
Whether it’s wedding favours for guests, sweet tables, fun photo booths, or table centrepieces, I bet there’s plenty of DIY crafts you can do yourself for a fraction of the price if you put your mind to it. Get your family and friends involved for plenty of wedding related fun!

Consider buying secondhand
Whether it’s your wedding dress or bits of decoration, nobody will know that it’s second hand. You’re bound to get a deal vs buying it from new, it’s better for the environment, and you only need it once anyway, so as long as it stays in good condition you can sell it back on after your big day to the next person in need of it!

Choose an off-peak day or season
Why do we insist that weddings must take place in the summer? British weather can be a bit temperamental, but rainy and snowy weddings can be just as beautiful as those with blazing sunshine. You’ll save thousands choosing an out-of-season wedding day. Even more so if you can choose any day besides a Saturday.

Find budget friendly suppliers
It’s common for suppliers to hear the word ‘wedding’ and hike their prices, but that’s not the case for everyone. You could look for up-and-coming suppliers, college students looking for experience, or turn to your own friends and family for favours. Or else you can find suppliers whose business mission it is to be as budget friendly as possible (like mine!). That way, you’re bound to save money by choosing more budget friendly suppliers.

This time of year always reminds me that I just love autumn/wintery weddings - I think they have a special kind of magic, with the crisp cold air, winter florals and foliage and of course the stunning fairy lights! What’s your favourite time of year for a wedding?

Choosing the right videographer for your wedding can be difficult, but it’s important to find one that fits your style and budget best! Here are a few things you can ask to make sure you’re finding the right fit.

1. Are you available on my wedding date?
It may seem like an obvious question, but one that is sometimes overlooked when you get excited about a videographer’s portfolio. Make sure they’re available to avoid any disappointment early on.

2. Are you the videographer who’ll be filming on the day?
It’s not good to build a rapport with a videographer, only to have a complete stranger show up on the wedding day. Be sure to know who’s coming to film your wedding on the day!

3. How do you operate on the day?
Be sure to know how your videographer plans to capture your day. Do they film highly posed and artistic shots, or try to find beauty in the natural and unstaged portions of the day? Where will they be stood during the ceremony and speeches - are they likely to get in anybody’s way? Make sure you’re on the same page to avoid disappointment.

4. What length of video will you produce?
If you’re expecting a documentary style, hour-long video of your wedding day and receive back a 6 minute highlight video, you’ll be in for a surprise! There are lots of different lengths of wedding video, and you’ll want to know what to expect from your videographer before you commit.

5. Will the video include dialogue from the day, or just music?
The answer to this question can produce different styles of video, so it’s important to know ahead of time. If you want vows and speeches included in your video, your videographer will need to use microphones on the day to capture this audio. If they don’t bring audio equipment with them, there’s no way to get that audio back later, and the resulting video will have a very different feel to it.

6. How long will it take you to edit the video?
Video editing is a big job requiring many hours or even days to produce a single video, and your videographer may have a lot of other videos to edit around the same time as yours! It’s important to get an idea as to how long you’ll be waiting for your video to be finished.

7. Is there a deposit? When will the remaining balance be due?
There’s a lot to think about when you’re planning a wedding, so figuring out how to factor the costs of a videographer into your plan is important.

8. Are there any additional costs?
It’s important to be sure you know exactly what you’ll be paying for when you put down your deposit and book your videographer. Make sure to ask them if there are any additional costs, including travel and accommodation expenses, food on the day, or if you’ll be paying extra for an assistant to be there.

One of my favourite parts of the day (and any wedding video) is the confetti shot! The happy couple walking out of the ceremony and being literally showered with love is just beautiful.

What’s your favourite part of the wedding day?

We're all pretty used to seeing photographers at weddings, but videographers still feel a bit more unusual. So why should you have a wedding videographer? Here are five great reasons!

1. To capture every aspect of your day
Still images capture a moment in time, whereas video captures everything. You’ll be able to relive your entire wedding day, from preparation to first dance, long past the point when your memory can’t recall the specifics.

2.To encapsulate the emotions from your day
Whether it’s the nerves and anticipation before the ceremony, the overwhelming sight of the bride walking down the aisle, the emotional speeches, or the guests having a blast on the dance floor, every emotion from the day can be captured naturally on video.

3. To share with family and friends
Wedding videos are easy to share, so the guests who were with you can relive the special day (and spot themselves having the time of their lives!) and the ones who couldn’t make it get to experience a snippet of what you did.

4. To experience parts of the wedding you missed - or which just flew by!
You won’t be at every part of the wedding: chances are that both wedding party will get ready separately, so the video can be a nice chance to see how the other half’s morning went. The bride often misses the guests showing up to the wedding as she arrives later, so it can be nice to relive that moment in the video, too. What’s more, weddings go by so quickly. Before you know it, all your planning and preparations are done and dusted and the wedding is over! The video can be a great way to make that excitement last longer.

5.
This is an event which only happens once, so it can’t be re-captured at a later stage. Not having a videographer is often stated as a big wedding day regret, so save yourself the heartache and get a videographer to capture the moment.

What a pleasure it was to be asked to film Taylor-dea and Alex’s wedding in September 2022!

To capture this video, I used two cameras (one stationary and one handheld) so that I was able to record the entire ceremony as well as capturing those special moments up close. I moved between Taylor and her bridesmaids and Alex and his groomsmen during the morning to capture the excitement and anticipation of the big day as they each got ready, before heading to the church and onto the reception venue to capture the guests, ceremony and speeches.

We all love wedding photos - they’re great to have on display in your house or flip through every now and again - but I’ve always found that nothing quite captures the feeling of the moment like video does.

For me, video is about more than just a static, posed shot. It’s about preserving the spirit of your day exactly as it happened. Natural, unposed and fun. And, to top it all off, when you pair all of that with just the right music, the feelings of the day all find a way to come flooding back to you.

I started my business to share my love of video content with happy couples and help them preserve their special wedding day forever. If you’d like to see what I can do for you, drop me a direct message, email me at [email protected] or check out my website rachelsharpevideography.com

Videos have long been important to me - I’ve always found that nothing quite captures the feeling of the moment like video does, and that’s why I’ve developed such a love of wedding videos over the years.

I’d love to share the joy of video with you and capture your special day so that you and your friends can watch it over and over again.
