I am requesting prayers for our youngest brother, who passed away at St Mary's Hospital Intensive Care Unit yesterday afternoon. He was in a coma for three days with extensive bleeding in the brain. My brother was a combat veteran who served over 30 years, including Afghanistan and many other hot spots. His last post was as the First Sargeant for a Blackhawk Unit near the Afghanistan ~ Pakistan Border.
It is believed that a bullet round that he took on the left temple, which was blocked by his helmet but left him comatose for two days a few years ago, contributed to an aneurysm between the parietal lobes. When these burst on Friday night, it led to his demise.
He was highly decorated, with at least two bronze stars and three purple hearts. I do not yet know the extent of his awards. He will be cremated, and his pastor will hold a service in two months. Full military honors will be presented, including the honor of a 21-gun salute customary for combat veterans. He is also an organ donor and will have an honor walk.

He was active in the community, assisted other veterans and family and friends in need, and was the principal caretaker for our 92-year-old aunt.
May this soldier who served honorably in peace and war enter our Lord's heavenly kingdom and rest in the glory of eternal peace.
