Butterfly Boutique Celebrations & Events will be hosting a sparkling elixir potion bar, carnival treats, spooky slime creation station, unique shopping vendors & so much more! Mystical makeovers, special FX and face paint will also be available for anyone without a costume!

AUTOCADES says a very fond HAPPY 40 YEARS to THE TRANSFORMERS!!!

40 years ago yesterday, the original G1 Transformers series debuted in America, and the landscape of children’s animation in the 80’s was altered forever. A somewhat simple premise of robots that can change into everyday automobiles and other devices, the Transformers benefited heavily from having strong influence from both Japan and America. The character designs were originally from two Japanese toylines, Micro Change and Diaclone. Hasbro purchased these and partnered with Japanese toy company Takara, along with the Marvel Comics group to bring them stateside with an all new story line involving two warring factions of ancient alien robots.

The Marvel comics influence is what truly allowed the series to resonate with American audiences, as the writers gave the incredibly stylized robot designs personality strengths and weaknesses that gave these giant battlebots hearts and souls. And none moreso than that of the leader of the heroic Autobots, Optimus Prime, one of the most revered characters of the era!

Transformers left a definitive impact on the culture, and sees continued success four decades from its inception, after having numerous animated series runs and films, live action films, comic lines, and of course tons of toys. The original animated Transformers film is one which Matt and I enjoyed immeasurably, and which we still honor to this day, never more so than the influence it had on our company motif!

Every time we get the chance to rollout to an arcade party in our own personal iteration of Optimus Prime, we always enjoy a small sense of heroic satisfaction. 😎 Cheers to an incredible series that has influenced generations of kids and will continue to do so! Until all are one!!

RIP JAMES EARL JONES
1/17/1931 - 9/9/2024

The Autocades family bids a very fond adieu and pays our deepest respects to the memory of the legendary James Earl Jones, who passed today at the age of 93.

Jones, an actor whose career spanned 6 decades, and covered such a broad variety of iconic roles, was most recognized for his performance as the voice of Darth Vader, the world renowned villain of the epic Star Wars series of films.

Jones’ voice, deeply baritone and intensely resonant, was the perfect fit to complete the emanating dark ambience the character of Darth Vader carried in the Star Wars universe, and the performance is one of the most recognizable in cinematic history. Vader was one of the most hallowed and iconic characters to grace a movie screen and was immensely memorable for the majority of Gen X’ers.

Another personal favorite performance of ours was that of the villainous sorcerer Thulsa Doom in the film Conan The Barbarian. Once again employing his trademark tones, Jones paired his majestic voice with a resoundingly malevolent performance against Arnold Schwarzenegger’s heroic Conan that lent great gravitas to the film.

A deeply respected presence in the worlds of science fiction and fantasy over the past half century, Jones’ acting career will forever be treasured and cherished by fans for many years to come. Autocades carries two arcade machines that bear the likeness of Darth Vader and feature the trademark voice that Jones made iconic, and we will continue to do so with great pride.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of James Earl Jones, and we share in the well wishes and thanks of hundreds of millions of Star Wars fans the world over.

The Force will be with you. Always.
