Sub.Subtle Studio Hi, I'm Gemma 👋
I'm a Sydney wedding florist that creates the vibe that uniquely reflects you!

This is the kind of stuff I spend way too much time thinking about 😂

Not because I expect anyone to walk into a wedding and say, “Wow... those candles are lined up beautifully.”

But because all those little decisions add up.

Individually they don’t seem like much.

Together?
They’re what make a space feel really bloody good.

It’s the kind of thing you don’t always notice... but you’d definitely notice if it wasn’t there.

My therapist would argue there are many more than 4 tabs at any given time.

But these are the ones that influence everything I do around here.

The flowers I design, the advice I give, and the way I think about celebrating.

Welcome to my brain 👉🏻

A florist should be more than someone who crams your wish list into a number.

They should help you figure out whether it’s the right wish list in the first place.

Somewhere along the way, we started acting like wedding stress was inevitable.

I don’t think it has to be.

My favourite couples are the ones who stay curious, keep an open mind and remember why they’re planning the day in the first place.

Turns out, they’re usually the ones having the most fun too.

Atmosphere is what happens when lots of thoughtful little decisions come together.

The flowers, the lighting, the music, the food... they all quietly encourage people to relax, start conversations and stay a little longer.

That’s the kind of party I want to help create.

As you get older, life gets busy.

People move away, have kids, change jobs and catch up becomes harder to organise.

Weddings, birthdays and milestone moments become some of the few times everyone ends up in the same room.

That’s worth celebrating.

Thanks for crawling my browser for a hot minute.

Glad to have you here ❤️

Swifties, I come in peace. ✌🏻

Genuine question…

Do celebrity weddings inspire you, or make you question your own wedding plans?

I have the GREATEST story to tell about this wedding.

Was it great at the time? Absolutely not, my heart actually nearly beat out of my butt hole if I am so honest with you..

Do my couple know this happened? I’m pretty sure no, so HI lovers if you’re reading this, this actually happened on your wedding day 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

So my beautiful right hand gal Brookie and I were staying in Shoal Bay for this wedding and we arrived the day before.

The Airbnb we were staying at was run by this lovely lady who let me use her very cool garage for storing the flowers overnight. (*Cool as in temperature - it was just a very normal garage haha).

The morning of the wedding we packed the van with all the reception flowers, left the ceremony flowers in the garage to keep the flowers cool.

We made our way over to the space for bump in and were having a fabulous time fuelled by coffee and an epic playlist.

My spidey senses must have been tingling because I thought… “let’s go back a little earlier to pick up the flowers for ceremony bump in - can’t hurt having some spare time…”

Well.. it’s very good we did that because when we got back the Airbnb and opened the garage door, guess what was in there?

NOTHING.

Squat diddly.

Not even a petal in sight.

When I say my soul left my body in that moment, I really mean it.

What do you mean all my flowers were gone?!

We ran around frantically knocking on every door we could.

I blew up the Airbnb hosts phone which no answer every single time.

While simultaneously trying to google every local florist to see if we could somehow source new flowers in an hour - EEEEK!

When finally, the downstairs neighbour answered and they had all of our flowers sitting in their house 🙃🙃🙃

We couldn’t believe it.

They helped us load the van and off we left ready to bump in for ceremony (swipe through proof we made it 😂)

In all my wedding career, I’ve had backup plans for many things but I can honestly say this was not one I would have ever thought would happen 😂

Moral of the story… always take your flowers everywhere you go? Or just don’t trust the garage at your airbnb.

On James and Jordan’s wedding day, it felt like my two best friends were getting married and I’d only met them 6 months prior.

They were planning a 30th birthday turned surprise wedding and it really was the most exciting thing to watch unfold.

We renamed all our correspondence to 30th birthday party on the off chance people would see any messages - it was like a secret squirrel mission that I was lucky enough to be in the inner circle for.

Then on the day, I got to meet their whole crew. Friends and family, all just as friendly and welcoming as the boys were since our first conversation together. Literally a room FILLED with love.

The brief was “we want it to feel like a birthday party but obviously it’s our wedding day too” so we went a little extra to make the incredible view at their venue pop.

And then there was the vendor team… just 10/10 legends all round. Getting to spend the day with your creative pals is one of the best parts of this job.

Feast your eyes on day FOUR of posting my work on past events so you book me for your future ones ✌🏼

Day three of posting my past events until you book me for your future event 🌹

I wanted to put some really beautiful romantic music with this that would give you goosebumps when you swiped but to be honest the chats in all these videos are just too good to mute.

This was such a special day for Claire and Nick, they were such fabulous humans to work with and I got to spend loads of time with the queen Allegra Hartford Davis ❤️

Pairing this navy blue throughout their day just really made the flowers pop (as noted in the audio 😂).

We moved this whole installation over to the reception space for the evening - two vans needed for safe transport and loads of muscles 💪🏼

Can we just take a moment for those ribbons perfectly fluttering in the wind 🤗

Day two of posting my past events until you book me for your future event.

This was a fabulous corporate event for a construction company which funnily enough is a field I used to work in (swipe for photographic evidence 😂).

How did I go from construction to flowers.. honestly, your guess is as good as mine.. that was the phase I was trying on every single hat including that cutsie fluro yellow one with my name on it.

Anyway, this was such a fun brief - spring garden party in orange, lilac and green which just pops awfff in CENTENNIAL HOMESTEAD (aka one of my all time fave venues in Sydney).

We also made all the arrangements and bud vases in little take home vases so the guests could take them all home. It was such a treat to turn up at bump out and see all the guests with their little flower arrangements in their hands 🤗

She’s back and she has some thoughts.

I’ve taken a bit of time off over the quieter months figuring out where to take my business next.

Then I saw this all over the news and it sent me down a rabbit hole.

I’d genuinely love to hear what you think 👇

Dream day, dream couple, dream team!

This day will live forever rent free in my head and I’m absolutely not mad about that (even in this economy).

James and Jordan came to me through my very good friend .heather. They were planning the 30th birthday of the century with a cheeky surprise wedding to round out the night.

Our first call they said they were looking for a stylist that didn’t scream wedding and I couldn’t think of a bigger compliment!

From the first time we spoke through to midnight bump out, and even weeks after the fact they made me feel so creatively and personally valued and I couldn’t think of a bigger honour than to bring this day to life for them.

One of my fave pieces on the night was a big reveal sign the boys pulled down to announce they were getting married. This blue satin fabric fluttered down the wall with “forever starts tonight”. Literally gave me goosebumps as they announced to their friends and family they were tying the knot and everyone cheered.

That paired with the most insane grazing table from , a double drag performance from and magical guest entertainment from - it really was the night of all nights.

More surprise weddings please!! 💜
