Good evening you bad ass bunch 💜
Today, I wanted to talk to you about MONEY.

And some of you- I guarantee- will have started to feel “the ick” even THIS FAR into the caption.

We live in a capitalist society.
That’s a fact.
Money is simply an easier way to exchange and pay for services and goods- so that we no longer lug around poor camels and sheep.

It’s by no means a perfect system.

But you get to decide WHAT that looks like.

“Money” is a conversation that gets a lot of THE ICK.

As business owners, and as women- we can find it uncomfortable to talk about money.

We can find ourselves leaning into a lot of deep subconscious beliefs that “money is evil” -

Or “that’s too expensive”.

“That’s too cheap”

Or “money doesn’t grow on trees”.
But in reality- Money isn’t ANYTHING more, than bits of paper, metal and “digital” currency, in exchange for the same goods and services.

Value for value.
You don’t just want money - you want the ability to make a BIGGER IMPACT.

Money doesn’t have an agenda.
It doesn’t have ultimatum.
It doesn’t like, or hate, or have ANY feelings about you as an individual.

What it IS- is a tool.

Just like your business is a tool.

I don’t doubt that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU in this community, started a business for MORE than just the money.

You started with passion.

You started with a purpose.

You don’t just want to build a business-
You want to build a MOVEMENT.

You saw something WRONG with the world- a problem that needing SOLVING-

And you said “f*ck it. I can do that.”

And then the panic set in. The self-doubt. The money fears.

The subconscious blocks of feeling like you can’t charge for something, because it is helping people.

Or that when you DO charge more for something- you have to overanalyse, over justify, and over explain why.

Your prices are your prices.
Value, for value.
You cannot expect to grow in this society without it.

We need to normalise talking about money.

More money won’t make you evil.
It simply makes you more of who you already ARE.

YOU choose what you do with it.

And I think that’s pretty damn beautiful if you ask me 🙌🏼💪🏼👏🏼🌸

Self-love isn’t just pampering, face masks, and a shopping spree-

It’s getting your finances in order.

It’s adding events into your calendar.

It’s setting reminders for deadlines.

It’s setting up automations in your business, so you can give yourself breathing space for when you’re not 100%💪🏼

It’s creating LEAD MAGNETS- so you can bring people into your business, even when you’re asleep.

It’s prepping social media posts on the days you DO feel like it- for the days that you DONT feel like it.

It’s pre-recording the podcast.

It’s dealing with the admin.

It’s having the difficult conversations.

As we spend today thinking about those we love, and showing others that we care-

Remember JUST HOW IMPORTANT it is to love yourself too.

The ride isn’t meant to be easy (GOD KNOWS we’ve had our mental health wobbles, crippling imposter syndrome, mega anxiety- the whole SHABANG).

But it does get to be PURPOSEFUL.

And it truly isn’t about the amount of times you get knocked down -

It’s the amount of times you PICK YOURSELF BACK UP-

The amount of times you pull yourself out of a dark place, and keep on going.

The amount of times you allow yourself to DREAM BIG, and stay HOPEFUL-

Even when you feel lost, confused and a little overwhelmed.

It’s okay to let your spark come back.

It’s okay to allow yourself to glow.

It’s okay to crawl, when you can’t run.

To hibernate, and embrace your seasons.

But don’t WAIT for someone else to fix it.

Feel the fear.
Embrace the growth.

Challenge yourself to take that one teeny scary step- even if (like us today!) it’s as simple as posting to Instagram.

Even if it’s sending an email.

Even if it’s going to that networking event.

Focus on building the HABITS-

On learning to take the EMOTION out of it.
Of learning to DETACH from what the results in your business mean about YOUR self worth.

You are not your business.
You are the driver.

And there are a F*CK TONNE of passengers out there- just waiting for you to take them for the ride.

Well good morning you gorgeous bunch of BAD BITCHES!! It’s been a while since we did an intro, and we’ve had a lot of new faces over the last few months so thought it was about time to explain who we are, and what our movement is about! NotYourBabe is a platform to empower, inspire and connect women in the creative sectors on a global scale. It is our mission to empower 1M women to carve their own path, own their power, and join in a beautiful sisterhood. We started out as networking events to connect female creatives, and business owners. Honestly, we didn’t know where we’d end up! Our founder @by_katielee is a full-time artist, and felt there just wasn’t a safe space out there for women in this sector to empower, inspire and connect with each other. Every networking event she went to was heavily male- yet there was so many incredible female creatives that she’d seen and wanted to connect with. Where were they all hiding?! We’ve come a long way since our glitter filled brunches, and it still blows our mind every day how many powerful women we’ve met through this movement. Some burn their bras, protest in the streets and tie themselves to railings. We revolt with a glass of Prosecco in one hand, a face full of glitter and an army of bad bitches behind us. We started as “Boss Babes Brunch” nearly two years ago now in June 2019, and rebranded to “Not Your Babe” at the end of August 2020. Since then we’ve started a podcast, held an all-female virtual festival, created a community of 3k on here, featured on BBC Radio Merseyside and connected with more incredible and inspiring women than we could ever imagine. We’ve come such a long way since that first brunch, and it really is just the beginning. We will not stop fighting for women to BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES, to chase their dreams and to step into their INCREDIBLE POWER. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received right from the start,and we hope this is the start of many an incredible festival to come.
