Wait for it.....
OK, another little tidbit of babble, but this one actually has purpose. If you're like me at all, you don't work five days a week. So when it comes to buying new paint, it's a big gouge in your pocketbook. Can anybody relate? Here's my big find, my aha moment. I'm a huge fan of diamond fx for so many reasons. I hear a lot of people say that they prefer tag. I like tag. It has its purpose. But when it comes to white, diamond fx is my go to. Here's one more reason why I just LOVE❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Diamond FX. Being on a budget, I haven't been able to buy all the cool new trendy, paints and glitters and bling and everything else that goes along with facepainting. So I'm constantly trying to come up with ways to create the same effect on a budget. I have discovered that (since right now I can't buy a whole new set of mehron star blends, and in truth, I only really need the white) Michaels and Hobby lobby both carry Mica powder. So what I did was purchase the white pearl mica powder and took an old diamond fx white which I watered down to a 2% milk consistency. Not whole milk but 2%. lol. Anyway I added some mica powder and used a whisk thingy because I was afraid to stick it in the blender, which btw was a smart move on my part because if I had, it would've been a real big mess. I had to adjust the amount of Mica to my liking and I think I put quite a bit in there actually. When it's wet you can't really see it. I thought this was an epic fail, as I have done so many times in the past. It seems that if I had taken all the money I used throwing away things I experimented with I probably could've bought the correct item by now 10 times over Yet it was fun trying to figure it out. Anyway, so I put the failed test to the side and forgot about it for a couple weeks. Fast forward 2-3 weeks. I was looking for a white in my kit and grabbed it. I was like "wow this looks like sparkles or shimmer. ". So I took my finger and I ran it across the ( now dry) paint and to my surprise there was a beautiful shimmer on my finger tip. I then rubbed on my hand with said fingertip and holy cow, even prettier shimmer. Tempting fate, I then rubbed over a Stencil, which I then realized "oh my God, I just created a poor man's version of starblends." Thank you DIAMOND FX. And also, you're welcome for your free endorsement. Ha ha.
