💚Meet my beautiful friend, Ally!💚
We both worked as office assistants in our church, so for about 3 years, we saw each other almost every day. She was single at the time, and our pastor told her, “You’ve got to meet my nephew! I just KNOW y’all will hit it off!” We kind of were thinking, “yeah, sure…” because if you have ever been single in a church or large community, everyone wants to set you up with their nephew, son, grandson, etc. and usually the only thing you have in common with them is that you’re both single. 😅 Ally and I decide to look him up on social media. Guess what? It turns out that Pastor Billy’s nephew is CUTE! And he plays banjo? He loves dogs? He loves Ally’s favorite bands and TV shows? As we are at my computer giggling and looking at his page, we start to think that Billy might be onto something here! They try to get set up, but he was in a different state at the time and it just never worked out.
Fast forward a couple years - Ally goes to Billy’s house for one of his kid’s graduation parties and finds out that the famous Chris is probably going to be there (I don’t remember why, but for some reason I couldn’t make it)! About a month later, I noticed Chris was tagging Ally in memes on Facebook. We led worship together one morning and I got her alone and inquired about this. 🧐 She filled me in and let me know they not only had met, but they had talked every day since that day! I was so excited for them! Months later, I found myself thinking, “I wonder when Chris and Ally will get engaged…” because I just knew it would happen sooner rather than later. No exaggerations…within a few days, I see a post announcing their engagement!!!
4 days after their engagement, while I was 37 weeks pregnant, I get a text from Ally saying she knows I’m about to have a baby and all, but she’d love for me to coordinate and do their florals. I excitedly got to reply saying, “Surprise! We had her yesterday!” (A different story for a different time. 😂) But of course, I said yes. I was absolutely honored to have been able to be a part of their special day, especially since I got to be a part of this at the beginning. Oh… and guess who performed the ceremony? None other than Uncle/Pastor Billy!
Their story really is a perfect example of God’s timing. If they had met years back, it would have been hard living in different states. But when it finally did happen, there were so many joyful and tragic circumstances in their lives that led to Ally moving back home, and Chris getting a job in that exact city. God really knows better than us!
