It’s Wedding Tip Tuesday 🍸
Todays tip is more of a guide..
How To Legally Change Your Last Name After Getting Married !
**This is from my experience as a CT bride so please fact check if you are out of state!!**

Step 1: Social Security Card
The first thing you want to do is go online and make an appointment with your local SSA. I got an appointment pretty quickly.
The day of it took about 30 mins for me, 25 waiting to be called literally 5 to change my name.
What To Bring: -Old SS Card, ID, Marriage License
Cost: $0

Step 2: License and Registration
make an appointment online for your local registry. Print out a name change form and a registration affidavit. Fill this both out and also bring your ID, Old Registration, Proof Of Insurance and marriage license.
Cost: $30 total for new license and registration

Step 3: Bank Accounts
Simply go to your bank with your marriage license, ID and debit cards and they will reprint your new cards and your new name. They handles everything for me and only took a few minutes
Cost: $0

Step 4: Loans
For your Mortgage and Car Loan (or any other loans you have) simply call the company and they will let you know what type of paperwork you need to fill out. You’ll have to send in a copy of your marriage license as well.

Step 5: Passport
This may differ for you depending on how old your passport is. For me mine was 5 years old so I can to fill out a passport renewal and send it in by mail. Before sending it in I also had to get a new passport photo and send in my marriage license with it.
Cost: (Including Expedited because I’m going on a cruise soon 🤪) $190 the most expensive part so far of the name change but it maybe less for you.

Step 6: Emails, Accounts, Etc
This last part you can do over time. Maybe get a new email, maybe make new accounts for online stores you shop on (Shein, Victoria Secret, Zara, Etc, Etc

I also want to clarify that when I say Marriage License it needs to be a certified copy from townhall not a photocopy. Each of the steps above that require the license will not accept photocopies, and yes, they will give it back to you either that day or via mail depending on the step.

It’s Wedding Tip Tuesday!
Todays tip: Make sure you make time in the timeline to have a moment with just you and your partner. Now I know this seems weird but hear me out. On your wedding day you’re going to get pulled every which way. Family, friends, events of the day are going to consume so much of your attention.
Build a moment in the timeline it doesn’t have to be long but definitely set time aside to go be alone with your partner and truly take in that it’s your wedding day.
This moment can be right after the ceremony when you walk out.
It can be right before the ceremony (if you’re doing a 1st look) when guests are arriving and everyone’s preparing for ceremony.
It can also be a walk through of the reception just the two of you to see it all come together before everyone else sees it.
Many of you really won’t realize how fast the day goes by. Take time to truly take it in with your husband/wife

This weeks WEDDING TIP:
Join your local “Wedding resale and exchange group” on Facebook. You’d be surprised how much amazing things previous brides will sell in bulk. From entire table decor to those cute little white dresses. The best part is some of it is even unused, which if you’re a bride rn you know how much you’re going balls to the walls spending on everything and anything.
I found my wedding bouquet on there. It was a used bouquet from Lings Moments, which new they are not cheap. I got mine for $50… and it’s still in perfect condition even after being stuffed in a carry on bag for 10 days.
These groups aren’t even just for brides on a budget there’s something for everyone!

With this wedding season coming to an end I can’t help but feel beyond grateful.
I’ve officially been in business for only 6 months but was so lucky enough to have the most amazing year. I’m thankful for my couples that trusted me to shoot their big days so early in my career.
I’m thankful for all the photographers in this community that let me 2nd shoot for them. And most definitely grateful for , being her assistant photographer throughout the year. I soaked in so much working along side her. If you know jess you know she’s the most creative photographer out there and I will definitely take what I learned from her and use it in my own ways.
I’m wrapped up my year with sending out my final wedding gallery, shooting an amazing engagement shoot and doing some last minute holiday minis.
I’m looking forward to next year with all my amazing couples that already booked me. 🫶🏻🖤 happy Tuesday

Leticia and Jay deserve a double post.
I did their engagement photos last year and right off the rip I was in loooove. Their love is so pure and naturally elegant. Nothing about them is forced you can tell the love in the relationship comes easy. When they asked me to drive all the way up to NH to shoot their wedding I couldn’t resist. My favorite part of the whole day wasn’t the beautiful ceremony, or the fun dancing. But it was when we were walking out on the pier and complete strangers were cheering from docks and bars. Beeping, stopping them on the sidewalk to say congratulations and complimenting how great they looked. Love was in the air that night and you could feel it. Congratulations you two ilyyyyy
