Im excited to share an ecstatic dance set at Dance Wave this coming Wednesday. Its been a while since I’ve done an ecstatic dance, so I’ve got some vibey ones for y’all. Well, summer is off to a great start! So much boogying and silliness to be had, so little time. I'm feeling blessed and honoured to be playing a number of events this summer. I am grateful y'all keep showing up to appreciate the music I share. I am grateful for the community we foster each time we dance together. I am grateful that I have the privilege to share my love of dancing and music with y'all. I am grateful full of love, acceptance, and joy we create. I am grateful we are currently smoke free here in the Koots, and hope that those who are being affected by the climate crisis stay safe. At times, it feels strange to dance while the world is burning. Dancing can feel somewhat surreal amongst the backdrop of hardship we are facing in these turbulent times of rising fascism, division, and polarization. But I'm often reminded by the people I meet along this journey that community and joy are important if we are going to get through this. We are stronger together. Don't forget that!

I'll be playing 3 sets at our wonderful regional burn, Burn in the Forest! I'm so excited to boogie with y'all! Big thanks to the camps who have invited me to play. I am stoked to get creative and bring some fresh sounds to the camps I'm playing at. Event page and details to come 🙂 Last year, I had such a blast playing a 3 hour set at the Nelson International Mural Festival block party. It was fun to see the crowd grow as the night progressed, and how the energy erupted in the last hour or so of my set. I can't wait to play the main stage this year, and get all the folks who didn't know about the block party boogying. Big thanks to the Mural Fest for having me again. I love the talent that this festival brings to our small little town, as well as how it showcases our incredible local arts scene. 🙂 Last year I had to bail on Summer's End due to the call of the Playa, but this year I'm not going to disappoint. Thank you for inviting me back to play, Rebekka. I know I'm going to love this intimate festival with all the homies. 🙂 Finally, I'll be playing a set at the end location of the Nelson Pride Parade. This will be my first Nelson Pride and I couldn't be happier to contributing in this way. Get ready for some disco in the sun! Excited to be playing tunes at one of my fave restos in town, Pitchfork Eatery, on Friday June 30th from 6-9pm. I’ll be playing on the patio which means lots of room to dance and move about. I’m feeling excited about playing tunes on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal series of protests in NYC during June 28th to July 3rd, 1969, that is widely considered a watershed moment for q***r rights in the USA. I’m all warm and fuzzy after the the IMPULSE dance and Meowmix show this weekend. I feel so grateful each time I reflect on just how much artistic talent we’ve got brewing in our small town, and just how dedicated, open-hearted, and fun our dance community is. This coming Wednesday night I’m excited to play some tunes at . This is a pretty rare opportunity for me as I usually have to be up early for work on weekdays, but this week I’ve got a doctors appointment on Thursday so we did some thoughtful planning to make this happen! I’ve got 3-4 hours (yess😎🙌🏼) to play so expect to hear disco and allll the shades of house music. I’ve got some fun tunes to take us back in time and get our bodies shakin’. Stoked to be part of this collaboration of artists, musicians, creators, dancers, dreamers. Feeling blessed by the talent, heart, and community we have here. Never Stop Dancing is a mix series focused on amplifying music of the 4x4 persuasion. Through this mix series, I aim to highlight the incredible talent in the West Kootenays and British Columbia. This mix series is dedicated to the house and techno lovers who may find themselves on the d-floor before anyone else, or perhaps at the very end of a party asking for one more song. Never Stop Dancing 3 features .

Local Kootenay luminary, host of cozy gatherings and dirty turbo ecstatic dances, electronic music aficionado and all-around beautiful human. This, and much more, is how I would describe Suk Kerata. When I met Suk on a dance floor a few years back, we immediately connected over our shared love for the slow and sultry side of house music. Over the years, we’ve spent hours dancing and growing as DJs alongside each other. Suk’s creativity and evolution as a DJ have kept his sets a fun, creative, and moving.

This set, titled “Winter Bardo," speaks to Suk's ability to seamlessly blend ethereal and hypnotic tracks to create remarkable sonic journeys. I love the distilled sections of the mix that bring my focus to each sound. The vocals and minimalistic percussion truly foster a meditative listening experience. I'm excited to be a part of this talented group of musicians for the second iteration of Impulse.

Expect to hear live cello and violin in addition to a huge range of sounds derived from global genres, all created and mixed live.

Shawn is an incredible fiddle player, weaving soaring gypsie melodies with deep ambient textures and live looping.

Fiona brings an incredible and emotive presence to her cello playing, having spent years exploring the art of improvisation on the cello.

Big thanks to multi-instrumentalist Adrian for bringing us all together for this rare experience, and putting hours and hours into his extensive library of sounds from across the globe. A true magician on the keys, he is bound to have you feeling the journey in your heart and soul with his enthralling and experimental sounds.

I'll be laying down some percussion on Ableton live as well as mixing in a short set.

The Kootenay Yoga Festival was held on the unceded, traditional and ancestral territory of the Sinixt people in September, 2022. It was a beautiful gathering that brought together a diversity of local talent and skill for 2 days of learning and growing. It was an honour to be part of the festival and contribute in various ways. I played two sets over the weekend. One was an ecstatic dance and the other was an impromptu yoga class with my dear friend Shideh. This is the recording of the yoga set, which ended up being one of my favourite sets I played all summer. I rarely get to play all the slow and sultry music I love, let alone get to play them out as their makers intended. I loved playing Shideh's yoga class because of the laughter, playfulness, and non-judgment that she consistently invites into the space. I also knew that she would be into the music I would play for her, so that made this experience that much more special. Thank you Shideh for inviting me to play for your class. Thank you to the organizers of the Nelson International Mural Festival for inviting me to play two sets over the course of the weekend. It was a real honour to be part of such an amazing festival that showcases our local artists while also bringing in so much talent to our town. We are truly blessed to have beautiful street art that often stops me in my tracks around every corner. It was great to see the community out and about, dancing in the streets, meeting muralists, taking part in awesome workshops, learning and growing together. I was stoked to be playing next to "The Golden Age" by local muralist Matty Kakez because I had recently seen him speak about the power of art to change the world at the Elephant Mountain Literary Festival. I love it when artists make their audience think, grow, and understand the world with more depth or a different perspective.

I had a phenomenal time playing tunes for such a diverse crowd of people. When I started just after 6pm on Saturday, there were only a few pals hanging around and some curious folks passing by. I really enjoyed playing for a number of families who rolled through and boogied with their kids. A highlight of my set was seeing a little girl who must have just learned to walk rock out to the beat. She had some serious moves and was groovin' for at least 15 minutes. What a legend!

As the day turned to night the crowd started to grow and the nelson dance community regulars gradually showed up. I was glad people spent time exploring all the other events going on in the city and came here to round the night off. The vibe was uplifting and the energy was electric. It was such a blast to play tunes for y'all and I appreciate the energy everybody brought to the dance floor. I love playing long sets as I really get to explore my library and take people on a journey.

Never Stop Dancing is a mix series focused on amplifying music of the 4x4 persuasion. Through this mix series, I aim to highlight the incredible talent in the West Kootenays. Never Stop Dancing 2 features Kootenay legend Hoola (-11oop).

Hoola is a Kootenay staple most well known for his tasteful curation of the at Shambhala alongside his partner -S. Hoola grew up raving in the Koots and continues to be a purveyor of the house and techno scene. His style ranges from "sh*tty/beach disco" to underground techno. Seeing him play live is always a treat.

This mix is a testament to Hoola's versatility on the decks and a refined taste of music that is the result of years of DJing. He brings together industrial sounds, driving basslines, and mind-bending samples seamlessly, taking the listener on an unpredictable journey. I hope you enjoy this eclectic mix of rare grooves of "dubby techno/deep euro disco."
