James' presence in the progressive electronic music scene is felt far & wide - whether it be through his monthly radio show Friction on the internationally renowned Proton Radio, or through his globally recognised progressive house label Late Night Music. With a lifelong love of progressive electronic music underpinning everything he does, James’ ability to connect with an audience has seen him perform to dancefloors across Australia, championing his sound and skills at iconic festivals, clubs, and warehouse parties.

If you’re well-versed in underground and eccentric music then you’ve probably heard of Wheezy. If not, then you need to. No stranger to the scene, his passion for tactful tune selecting has quickly lead him to be a local favourite around Melbourne.

Originally from Eltham, he has been growing his following since he started out matching beats 3 years ago, with his favourite genres being hard tech, psy tech and groovy bass house. His unconventional mixing style has got him noticed by crowds and promotors alike, whether it’s weaving unsuspected acapellas into heavy basslines or teasing the audience with sexy, seamless transitions from one genre to another.

Wheezy’s steeze has landed him gigs for some of Victoria’s biggest names, venues and festivals including Pitch Music & Arts, Proxima Freqencies, Pelican Villa, My Aeon, 303, Pawn & Co and a bunch of outdoor parties with many to come.

Tonight’s the night we throw our first solo party at the infamous my aeon! Our toes have been tingling in anticipation for this night, hope you’re all ready to dance into the weekend with us.
Unfortunately BANDO isn’t able to make it due to being fully sickkk, so the funk daddy himself Acaena is jumping in to fill the spot.
To keep your eyeballs pleased for the night we have One Eighty Collective joining us again with a beautiful live art display and Jack Rattray-Wood has pieced together a remarkably stunning visual creation which will be projected around the room.

This week we welcome back Astro Pleasure, an aspiring astronaut from Melbourne’s south east and is currently recruiting crew members to join him on an expedition to space.

A P, the alias of Brodie Hayward is a long time friend of the Proxima community and has had the “pleasure” of being a part of their success so far.

He draws inspiration from all walks of life and many diverse oddities of music. 

A P has explored many different genres and has a versatile musical background under his belt but mainly produces prog and techno. Which offers a truly pleasurable listening experience to those who are lovers of dance music.

Equipped with a whole bunch of world class unreleased tunes as well as an inventory of tastefully picked tunes to suit his uniquely raw blend of melodic yet driving progressive techno, AP will be sure to make you feel something throughout a set.

Although talented, Brodie is constantly improving. We don't think it will be much longer until we see him slamming a dusty dance floor at your favorite bush doof and for us at Proxima, we can't wait.

This week we again return to one of our founders, Joonmack.
Joon has come a long way since the beginning of Proxima, diving deep into his productions and rounding off skills in as many creative avenues as possible.
With recent releases on frisson records, digital diamonds and some very cool, yet to be announced releases coming later this year... Jack is soon sure to be considered one of the many cornerstones of Melbourne's underground.

This set was recorded at Bangboza 2022 - Proxima's Annual gathering amongst the trees.

This weeks Intercept mix has been recorded live at Sooki Lounge during one of our own Proxima Frequencies curators & founders Connor Mac's warm-up set for Berlin based Emanuel Satie at Sooki Saturday's 6th birthday.

Connor Mac is one of the longest standing residents at Sooki Lounge, having soundtracked evenings at Belgrave's house & techno landmark for the last 8 years. Outside of Sooki Lounge, his near decade-long stint behind the wheels has seen him play at some of Victoria's finest establishments such as Revolver Upstairs, My Aeon & XE54 where he's been given the opportunity to warm up for international heavyweights such as Quivver, Renier Zonneveld, Jeremy Olander, Sebastien Leger, Kasper Koman & countless others.

Outside of the club circuit, Connor has also made his footprint on Victoria's festival circuit, having recently played at Interstellar Groove Frestival - as well as Rainbow Serpent Festival, Earthcore, Babylon & The Comfort Zone.

This mix falls outside of what you may be used to from Connor, as he has steered away from his deep and progressive house sounds typified in his productions and opted for a boppy & club moving minimal house set. Whatever it is he's dishing up, we hope you enjoy it!
