John, the legend who drove the Zapatistas delegation around Dublin on the Red bus every day last week, holding #97 in the Celebrate People’s History Poster Series : Primo Tapia de la Cruz by .graphics .

Primo Tapia de la Cruz (1885–1926) was born into the indigenous Tarascan community of Naraja, Mexico. While working as a migrant laborer in California he studied with the Magon brothers (fathers of Mexican anarchism). He went on to become a member of the Wobblies (Industrial Workers of the World). At a sugar beet refinery in Nebraska he organized his fellow workers into a five-hundred-man union. Returning home, he battled for agrarian reform in the Zacapu Valley region. Primo led the Tarascan communities to many victories, winning back their stolen land. Ultimately he was murdered by soldiers disguised as peasants and became a martyr for the Mexican agrarian movement.

Some special memorable and historical moments captured as the Zapatistas visit Galway/Clare and are welcomed with enthusiasm and celebration at the Chris columbus statue (which remains 😉) On to a reception and conversations at Aras Na Gael. Raring to go, a beautiful walk on a very fine day at Mullaghmore, where the rich history of the Burren landscape was given. Some hurling coaching for our Zapatista brothers and sisters followed by conversations with a new group waiting to meet and greet at Mna Ag Gaire Ennis Women's Shed. What a wonderful trip to the West.
