no amount of money or planning can procure spring wildflowers like wild sweet william and apple blossoms and columbine and chives and jacob's ladder for you 11 months out of 12. you can't ship them in from a farm across the country or the world. they are just gifts from the earth that, if you get married at a certain time (April) in a particular place (here), may choose to grace your wedding bouquets.

I loved being part of Art in Bloom at . It was such fun to create a floral art piece just for the sake of making art, and to spend the weekend surrounded by lovers of flowers. I gave an impromptu presentation to a 4th grade class that was truly delightful, and a few 10 year olds hung back to awkwardly tell me my flowers were cool! The Teotihuacan mask and I will share a connection forever!

Taylor and Cody's wedding at Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens in August was one for the books. This is a snap I got of Taylor's magical bouquet. I will look back on this wedding fondly forever! We went all out with candles, moss, cloches, and pinky peachy flowers on everything- trees, bridges, staircases, tables, you name it- for their enchanted forest wonderland.

This captured the special moment between summer and fall that happens in Missouri in early September. Kate from led week-of design on this and it was stunning.

Dahlia season is here, the harbinger of fall. As a florist working with local flowers, I feel blessed to 'keep pace with the earth and the soul of the Earth', as the Kahlil Gibran piece goes. All of these flowers grew in Missouri and Illinois, without pesticides, under the sun, with little toads hopping under them and butterflies sailing above them as the days got longer, and then shorter. They were harvested just for Carolyn & Chris's big day a few weeks ago. Now, every fall when the dahlias and asters bloom and the hydrangeas start to turn color, they will be reminded of their wedding. How special is that?

the reception patio at Lalumondiere Mill and Rivergardens (my new favorite venue) was built around a beautiful tree. when Taylor and Cody asked us if we thought they should add flowers to the tree as a backdrop for dinner, our answer was a resounding, 'Yes!'

this was incredibly fun and beautiful- something to keep in mind for 2023 couples getting married in the great outdoors!

i'm so happy Lisa & Beth asked us to do their wedding flowers. their bright, modern vibe and rainbow theme was definitely outside of our usual wedding work. I was worried we wouldn't be able to deliver what they wanted with local flowers, but we had nothing to worry about! We sourced perfect flowers from , , and , and all the greenery we used was American-grown. and I had a lot of fun putting everything together!

we have exciting news...

Since 2017 Wild Ginger has been my evenings-and-weekends activity while I work full-time elsewhere. Thanks to all of you, our amazing clients and vendor fans and other folks who have spread the word about us, we are making the leap and taking Wild Ginger full-time starting in July! I really still can't believe that this business has grown enough to be my full time endeavor. We would not be able to do this without all your support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being on this journey with me.
