2023 Laurel Highlands Ultra. You were a beauty. Snuck between prevailing smoke and torrential downpours, a wonderful group of runners brought amazing efforts and even better vibes. Thank you to everyone involved, whether you were running or behind the scenes delivering pickle juice at 1am in the morning.
In 2019 we were introduced to .freeman1, Tim and Loreen Hewitt. A mutual friend connected us after hearing that the Laurel Race Directors were thinking about passing off the reigns.
From the first conversation it was very clear that this was no ordinary race. Rick, Tim and Loreen were not just passionate about it but committed to its community and legacy. They put Jim, Vinny and I through the wringer. Focused less on logistics and more on keeping aspects of the race that keep the community involved and keep the race involved in the community, like relays and donations of funds and time to Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation. 🌿
We’re beyond excited to continue this legacy. Stoked to continue to build relationships with this community and already planning for next year!
