It's time for yesyesradio Episode 69 (nice) featuring Acerbius & Fritz . Episode 69 will broadcast live Monday March 17 2025 from 8 - 10 PM EST on Sub FM .

About the Guests

Acerbius has spent the past twenty-five years behind the decks, across many scenes. His journey first started playing top40 in high school, but he maintained a wanderlust for electronic music. Upon discovering the festival circuits, acerbius instantly fell in love with the diversity of what was experienced. He knew right then that there would be no way to choose just one path. As such, acerbius has always made a point to bring together the various musical styles and sounds that inspire and move him. Much of what his sets are comprised of tends to be bass heavy genres that feature a psychedelic feeling while blending influences from all around the world.

Fritz - Hailing from the west coast, Fritz has been a founder, and curator of a countless number of productions.

In BC, he was co-founder of Perception events, New Democratic Dance Party and Uprising Festival. Looking eastward, Fritz founded the bass monthly Spectrum, co-founded Oscillate, organized the Sunday renegade park jams, and co-produced Parchitextures.

He views a party like a living, breathing, intangible painting. Space and time is the canvas, artists are the brushes and the way they express themselves is the colour.

Musically his selections tend to focus on music that has deep bass lines, polyrhythms and driving transcendental percussion. He believes a good dj should be able strike the balance between giving the crowd what they want, but also challenging them to new sounds they may not be exposed to. The mission is to challenge the body and expand the mind, make the crowd dance into sweaty frenzy, but also take them on a rollercoaster of emotion. Always trying to find music that has great sound design with out sacrificing soul and groove.

Algo 2.0 - Started producing music about 25 years ago. Producing rappers in Germany and overseas at that time. Always with some UK funk and sound in it. After some time, friends were running very successful electro parties in Hamburg during a time when everybody else was into minimal electro. The energy at these parties was just amazing, explosive. That was the time when Algo 2.0 switched to four on the floor type of music under a different alias. In your face and ... in your face. From there it went on and on, Algo 2.0 swapped countries, stayed 5 years in the wider London area and got hooked to UKG. It is versatile, you can be creative, you can be funky, you can sample, you can play on your own, 4/4, broken beat, everything goes. The only thing is, it needs to be funky. All this sound design & creating sounds that were not there before, trying to understand how others got to their sounds when they come up with something new. It is like a big laboritory. In my basement. I love it.

Staying alive, We just hit 65. yesyesradio is back again for another amazing show featuring two more amazing guest selectors/ producers Foxtail & Mochipet both from the US and pushing amazing music for time! This episode will broadcast Monday November 25 2024 from 7 - 9 PM EST on Sub FM .

About the guests -

Mochipet - Born in Taiwan to a rocket scientist father and kindergarten teacher mother, David Y Wang makes his own brand of electronic music under the alias “Mochipet.” He has been spotted touring throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia; oftentimes in a purple Godzilla suit. You might have heard his music featured in video games with the Beastie Boys, or performed by a 20-piece orchestra at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Eclectic is an understatement for his collaborations, as he has worked with everyone from Legendary Skateboarder/Musician Ray Barbee, to Techno Queen Ellen Allien, Jazz drummer Weasel Walter, and Mashup DJ Z-Trip. Check out his California based label Daly City Records which has released music by artists such as Griz, K.Flay, Salva, Daedalus, Machine Drum, and The Glitch Mob.

Foxtail - The Utah-based audiophile and producer Foxtail reinvents his own wheel with Revontulet. Foxtail’s sound is categorically fluid in every way, and he succeeds in delivering on that fluidity yet again. Each aspect of his songwriting process has continued to mature, from the precise production to the crisp engineering. This maturation process has resulted in a tonally balanced set of five songs that together weave an emotional membrane.

Each track pairs off with the one ahead of it in a spacious, harmonious dance. The synthesis patching across the release is consistent and direct, creating a continuity that holds the record together like glue. Two tracks feature careful, syncopated vinyl cuts that dart through the percussion layers, combining dancefloor sentimentalities with downtempo ambience. Foxtail’s rhythmic structures are concise and hypnotic, carrying each composition straight from headphones to headspace.
