We curate the Black + Forth Farmers Market so that you feel like you’re at a homecoming or family reunion. With Whole Wellness as one of our core values, we provide whole foods hyper-locally sourced from Black owned farmers AND provide fitness workshops to promote physical activity. The .and.forth business model is displayed here with the free.99 vending fee for our farmers and food vendors.

From freshly harvested melons to hand squeezed lemonade. In-season produce and handmade ice cream. Alkaline water and vegan burgers and diverse varieties of eggs. Eucalyptus Shower Bunches and fresh baked pastries. Worldly spices and MD-raised hens. We’re adding seafood and butter to our Black owned farmers market categories starting in July. Are you hanging your Eucalyptus Shower Bunch correctly, Flower Buds? 💐

One way to ensure that your Eucalyptus Shower Bunch lasts for at least 6 weeks (!!!), is to ensure there is no direct water running on your Bunch. You do not want to drench your Eucalyptus Shower Bunch with shower water because it will pre-maturely dry your eucalyptus petals.

We recommend to hang your Eucalyptus Shower Bunch in one of three ways:
1. Hang on the neck of your shower head, like pictured here with the Purifying shower head ✨
2. Hang on your shower curtain rod or on the frame of your shower door
3. Hang from a towel bar in your showering/bathing space

The major key 🔑 here is the STEAM from the hot shower. Steam plus our method of peeling petals in half will create a spa-at-home, allergy-alleviating experience!

Yesterday we found a home for the installation at , and we’re elated to talk with you about renting the installation for your next installation, retail space or exhibition. This is such a sweet surprise! I am so press!!!! - all pun intended! 😂🌸 And, talk about full circle. Just last month at for BLK Florist Month, we were wrapping our arrangements in our archival newspaper publications featuring Black florists. It looks like we’ll be wrapping our and in this piece of Black history featuring our flower business as well, Flower Buds! 🥰

Y’all thought BLK Florist Month was over? Nah… we’re just getting started! 🚉💐✈️

Last month we highlighted two Black women florists in my hometown, Washington DC ( + ). I have dedicated my life to telling the stories of Afro women throughout the world and their relationship to flowers. I have something special for my Flower Buds dropping tomorrow about a likkle Jamaican style farm called .farm, owned by Mrs. Barbara McKenzie in Davie, FL, right outside of Miami. 🇯🇲👩🏾‍🌾

While the BLK Florist Month Pop Up Shop is closed at , I am really excited for what’s to come and exploring the world of flowers through the Afro lens. Thank you Flower Buds for inspiring me each and every day, and I am elated to share this anthrolopological journey with you all! 💐

DID YOU KNOW that is a DC Flower Bud? ✨

The incomparable Samuel L. Jackson is a DC Native. Before attending and moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jackson was an only child and had a stuttering problem. He overcame this challenge by “pretending to be other people that didn’t stutter.” As an only child myself, that resonated with me deeply!

The BLK Florist Month Pop Up Shop is coming to an end… but we’ve got one more week to vibe together! 💐

It’s more than an Instagrammable moment. This monthlong project allows us to travel through time, learning about the florists of African descent that have broken ground for creatives like me, today. I went down a rabbit hole 🕳 searching through archival print and library collections to curate a piece of Black history to wrap your flowers in, and take home forever.

The BLK FLORIST MONTH POP UP SHOP is open today, and Mon-Fri from 3pm - 7pm at in Midtown Center.

In 1968, the entire nation was in an uproar and deep pain due to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Cities were literally burning down with rage, and DC was an epicenter of this ethos.

Folks looted and burned business to display a radical sense of anti-establishment and to give a huge middle finger to the white supremacy plaguing the… uh, world. , a now 120-year old Italian family florist, was one of the establishments.

Pictures is the boarded up business with Caruso’s banner hanging with a bit of a limp, from 1968. Bricks and glass lay dormant as an aftermath of the District’s anguish.

While Caruso Florist isn’t a Black owned florist, their business is within the city’s Black story as living history and witness to how Chocolate City felt in the late 80s, a sentiment spread across all 8 wards.

FREE Smudge Stick Lab 💐

We are elated to join at this years AFRO HOUSE! Celebrate Black History Month with healing traditions such as smudging, participate in drum circles, engage in sound baths, spoken word and much more!

In the Smudge Stick Lab, we manifest our goals with the help of flowers, creating Smudge Sticks that will last for over a year. We will have our Eucalyptus Shower Bunches and BLK Florist Month Newspapers, too!

It’s really the flower medicine for me. Seeing the bundles eucalyptus and yarrow drying on the wall of this Dad’s house is so endearing. Eucalyptus is a perfect organic remedy for your little ones. Peel petals off and massage the leaves into your chest for a deeper sensation.

DID YOU KNOW that before starting , Earl G. Graves, Sr. was a florist?

As a college student at , Earl G. Graves Sr. started a college-based flower business because local white florists were unwilling to make deliveries there.

Learn more about the history of Black florists in America at our monthlong pop up shop at , M-F from 3-7pm. Each BLK FLWR MRKT purchased comes with a vintage newsprint from a Black publisher, with an article about a Black florist that dates back to the early 1900s 💐

THE JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY IS NOT ENOUGH 🏛🌹✊🏾 REPARATIONS GARDEN AT THE ELLIPSE PARK ON THE WHITE HOUSE PT. 4 This year, BLK FLWR MRKT honored Juneteenth in a way we, or the country, have never done before. With an all Black team - all Washingtonians, some women, some men, some of which were returning citizens - and with the tenacious support of @humanrightswatch + @stinkstudios - the Reparations Garden was created. We installed the Reparations Garden in eyes distance from The White House so that @potus Joe Biden can see. He committed to a study of US chattel slavery of Africans, and its ongoing vestiges, in order to formalize a start of reparations for Black Americans, byway of the HR40 Bill. We asked him to make an Executive Order by Juneteenth on the Bill, and despite the garnished support needing to pass it, it was tabled. So, the fight continues. This project has been the highlight of my career! I’ll be sharing some BTS deets and more info on the HR40 Bill all week. Because Flower Buds, you won’t even believe all that has transpired at the Reparations Garden this past week - both incredible moments and unbelievable ones! Round of applause and a huge hug to the Researchers at Human Rights Watch, particularly Dreisen Heath, a woman that is DOING THE WORKKKK to hold the federal government accountable to their laws and policies that enabled Black enslavement and generational poverty. Tag @potus and ask WHEN WILL THE WHITE HOUSE SUPPORT A STUDY OF REPARATIONS? Because the Flower Buds want to know, okay?!!!!???!!! #reparationsnow #reparationsgarden #hr40
