Please help💔💔💔
This is not a post I ever thought I'd be writing. On Monday the 24th of February our world was turned upside down when our little Trigger became ill whilst we were away on our doggy weekend holiday in Newquay. Quick thinking of Trigger repeatedly walking around in circles on his right side set off alarm bells that something wasn't right.
Trigger was rushed to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital, where they later discovered after a CT scan that our darling boy had been diagnosed with a very severe case of . A rare condition (especially in larger breeds) of fluid on the brain. This is something that Trigger was born with, however this absolutely gorgeous, energetic, playful, loving boy never showed signs of this until Monday.
After 3 long nights at of being at his hotel hospital😭 where he was taken care of by such amazing veterinary staff. Today he was referred to a Neurologist at a specialist unit, further away, where unfortunately we were told at this stage nothing could be done to help him.
We are aware of the amount of fluid on Triggers brain the shunt operation would be a huge risk. However we were told that the usual medication that pups with Hydrocephalus take
'Omeprazole', isn't "proven it works in studies" so Trigger has not been prescribed it. Even though in every Hydrocephalus group I am in on social media, every dog has this medication and is still going, even though it is unknown when their last days are, it's helping them get by.
We are in desperate need of help for our baby boy
If anyone on here has had a similar severe experience of this rare illness or if any Neurologist on here, that could help with any advice. I'm trying to get a second opinion.
I do not have children, these boys are my children and I will do all I can to save them💔.
Thank you so much for reading,
One very broken dog mum
