She can also advise on the legal requirements to ensure the marriage is registered correctly at the Department of Home Affairs. Louise is also a wedding planner, so she is passionate about weddings and the marriage process. She understands the stress that goes with a wedding day and will do everything possible to make sure that the ceremony flows smoothly, is stress free and that the couple has fun! Who said you had to take your husband's surname? If you want to stick with your current surname, then do it! It's your name and your choice and you'll be the one who has to sign it for the rest of your life.

You have 3 choices here... you keep your surname, take your husband's surname or double-barrel your surnames (keep in mind it often makes for a loooong surname)

You can only get married at a Home Affairs office, with an appointment or get a registered marriage officer to marry you. Note that I'm referring to the legal paperwork here. Anyone can do your ceremony, but a marriage officer must do the paperwork.

There are a few marriage & wedding myths out there when it comes to getting married in South Africa. We're here to set the record straight! 🩷

Myth 1 - you need to get married under a roof. Nope! You can get married anywhere you want... in a garden, on a beach, on top of a mountain, in a vineyard or on a safari, to name a few. The only limitation is the weather, but it's just a personal preference to not do ceremonies in the pouring rain or gale force winds! 😁

I can't tell you how often the groom tells me that he won't cry at his wedding, whether it's when he sees his bride (or groom) walking down the aisle or when he shares his vows.

Sarah found it quite sweet (and a bit funny) when Adrian was surprised by his reaction to his vows

It gives me a weird sense of satisfaction when they're proven wrong 😂 They underestimate how emotional it can be to share your feelings of love with the love of your life and that this is the beginning of the rest of your life together.

I have to admit, it sometimes makes me a bit teary as well because of the raw emotion and authenticity of the moment. And this is why I always carry tissues to a ceremony for the groom.
