Trumpian MAGA Republicans want to take away many of the rights you have enjoyed in the past…. Including the right to read what you want.

Are you a Chicago Veteran and you want to take advantage of Chicago's great parks...but have a disability?

Good luck with that.

Chicago has been "trying" to make its parks accessible since 1992! That's right. It's been 32 years since they've been "trying" to make our parks accessible.

This is not acceptable.

Please go to this Chicago Park Survey and tell the park district this must be addressed now.

Then pass this along to all seniors, those with disability and any who realize that they are only temporally abled bodied.

Thank you.

Due to weather conditions, the Lakefront Trail is closed from Oak St. to Ohio St. Beach, along with the underpass at Chicago Ave. Please use extreme caution along other sections of the trail. Check back for updates or stay connected to our social media.  View the Lakefront Trail Map.

I'm just finishing the Robin Cook book pictured below.... his books are always a good read.. especially if you like thrillers that involve "medical" stuff. This book is about a reluctant Medical Examiner pathology resident who finds a series of suicides that are suspicious. (Since Cook does meticulous research for his books... you also learn a great deal about medical examiners as well)

The next series of books are very timely....and I will be reading them next.

I heard the author of The Bill of Obligations on CNN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft6M7ddlobk) and became very interested in what he had to say. Although I've only skimmed this book so far.... I imagine that this should probably be mandatory reading for every high school and college student in America.)

"Enough" is by Cassidy Hutchinson. She was the special assistant to Trump when he was President, who had to make a choice of being loyal to Trump or to her country. She chose her country. She was actually "in the room" when it happened.

Rachel Maddow is about as liberal as you can possibly be....so the topic of this book does not surprise me. She tells the story of the ultra right throughout the history of the United States. Did you know that jut before WWII, there were a great number of Americans who were in favor of Fascism? They had a huge meeting in 1939 at New York's Madison Square Garden where a Nazi-supporting German-American Bund, held a 20,000-strong rally.

Yes, we came thisclose to supporting Hi**er.

The last book "On Tyranny" is a very short text that gets to the very heart of tyranny. It is a must read right now. A Must Read.

I would not be surprised if MAGA Republicans and Trump Cultists were too ban these books.

Today with the MAGA Republicans and supporters of Trump, we are thisclose to once again consider the possibly of becoming a country with a Tyrant/Dictator.

We must not let this happen.

Get out and vote.
Vote for President Biden.
Vote for all Democrats.

Do not let Trump become our modern day Hi**er.... a dictator and Dear Leader of our times.

The January 6th Insurrection, led by Trump, attempted to destroy Democracy and our iconic institutions. Republicans have kissed the dictator's ring... the one ring to rule all Republicans.

We will have another Presidential election this year. Remember the Trump led resurrection, the chaos, the pain and death.

We must not allow this to ever happen again.

Vote for Biden and all Democrats.

Democrats understand the importance of our Democracy, our freedoms, our rights and how caring for others....not just the 1%....is important.

VOTE. Democratic..

The Honoring Our Veterans in November program held at Citynews Stand was a great success. We wish to thank all who attended and shared their photos of loved ones who served or currently serve in our Armed Forces and their stories.

A special thank you goes out to Marlena Ascher, Dominick M Maino, Bill Taylor, Marci Romero Berner (owner Tatas Tacos), and Joe Angelestri who organized this event. The presence of Johnathan Chanza (Station Commander of US Army Recruiting Center) was also most appreciated.

We would also like to gratefully acknowledge State Senator Cristina H Pacione-Zayas and Metropolitan Chicago Water Reclamation District Commissioner Daniel Pogorzelski who made time out of their very busy schedules to spend this afternoon with us.

The program started with introductions and then the Star-Spangled Banner was played, All in attendance stood, then placed their hands on their hearts and broke into song.

Marlena played music representing each of the Armed services while those in the audience stood if they were a member of that particular service. When this was completed, Dominick told all about the Wall of Remembrance and the photos displayed on a digital frame.

It was now time for our keynote speaker, Marine (retired) William Taylor, who served 13 months in Vietnam, participated in 28 combat missions and was awarded 3 Purple Hearts. He told us about himself and why he decided to write his book, On Full Automatic: Surviving 13 Months in Vietnam. Upon the completion of this portion of the program a question-and-answer session was held where additional stories were told. After this was completed, Bill interacted with those participants while signing copies of his book.

Many participants then went to Tatas Tacos for dinner and a free dessert given by Marci.

Finally, we also want to thank CBS Chicago who sent out their camera man to capture the event and Block Club Chicago for informing all their readers about today’s special program.

Sargent York was one of many heroes during WWI.

Gary Cooper was the star of the movie. Alvin York was the real hero.

Alvin Cullum York, also known as Sergeant York, was one of the most decorated United States Army soldiers of World War I. He received the Medal of Honor for leading an attack on a German machine gun nest, gathering 35 machine guns, killing at least 25 enemy soldiers and capturing 132 prisoners

Honor our veterans Saturday November 12th at Citynews Stand at 3PM.
