Finally a chance to post this past weekend’s activities. It was wet out there.
We found ourselves, once again, in Lancaster County for the Steak Cookoff Association Keystone State Steak Cookoff, a great event run by Bryant Glick. Always a great event, even when it’s wet out and the steaks were stellar! Tim Manley always a great job and always great to see you.
Did I mention the wetness?
Onward.

Awards were wet, so we went inside 🤗

We were ecstatic with a 3rd place Steak ‘A’ call which led to a “Golden Ticket” and an invite to next year’s World Championship courtesy of Rick Manzi and his 2 - 1st places this weekend, with the gracious pass down and a little “Disruption” AnonymousQ Competition Cooking Team in our cook. We also love that flavor from our friends at Croix Valley!
Steak B and C missed the mark, I blame the rain, ok, maybe the bourbon, but we came back with a 5th Place in Ribs thanks to Dead Bird BBQ - DB180 Perfect Pork and Sweet rubs. We added a little peachy heat which, in hind sight may not have served us well in looking at taste scores. Fortunately, I know how to cook ribs when I don’t burn them to death! 😂😂😂

Congratulations to Bryan Davis on the 1st place perfect score, my buddy Todd Johnston with his Golden Ticken and great weekend, Gary Zimmerman keeps killing it and C’mon Man Edward H. Gent III for a killer weekend and Golden Tickets for Steak and Ancillary!
Great to see all the ECSM!

Great weekend in Lancaster, PA for the Steak Cookoff Association event at Lancaster BBQ Supply. Tyler Madenford and Courtney kept the torch moving with their 1st event as the new proprietors.

We decided to add a little “Disruption” to our cook and it definitely made the judges notice with a 3rd place🥉in Steak “A”with a 53.5 taste.

Steak “B”, we stuck with the OG and got a 13th with a steak I wasn’t happy with from the moment I picked it. The 49 in appearance didn’t help.

Always a great time hanging with Todd Johnston and Pam PJ.

Happy New Year!
What a past couple weeks!

Mrs. Doc Pearl, Haylee and I headed down to Tampa, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina for the Holidays to visit family and then hit the Steak Cookoff Association Grate Sauces & Rubs NEW YEAR’s BASH STEAK COOKOFF in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

Thank you Ralph LeGrand for hosting a wonderful event and to Debby & Don Harwell for your hard work making the event a success.
Was fun to see my old NC STATE friend Rodney Holland. You totally brought me luck!
This was a packed event with cooks from around the US battling for points in the final cook-off’s of 2023 and 1st cook-off’s of 2024.

Saturday, the Doc did it again for the 1st time in 2023 with a 1st Place Steak and a 254.0 score.
Sunday, the Doc was fortunate to hit again with a 7th Place Steak.
Monday, lightning hit again with a 3rd Place Steak tying us for the 3-day OVERALL STEAK CHAMPION Award with Raymond Patterson!

Michelle Perelka for OVERALL OVERALL ANCILLARY & STEAK Combined Champion. We had a lot of fun with Tom Perelka and Michelle as our neighbors….they may or may not agree!

A soggy start, but spirits were high at the Steak Cookoff Association New England Steak Championship!
Scott MacDonald and Geoff Mullen are both rock stars and organized an amazing event!
So many friends, old and new, came up to Enfield, CT to compete and was great to see so much support for the SCA in New England!
The Doc, as I like to call him 😂, pulled off a 2nd place in Steak A and 4th in Steak B!
I’ll just go out on my cocky limb and say I am the Overall New England Steak Champion!! 😂🎩😎🔥😉😉🥩
Ribs were dead middle tying for 15th and losing the tie break to finish 16th (who was 15th?? 😂)
Great start to the 2023 season and look forward to seeing ya’ll soon.
Miss the Raz Braz DOGS and the photo recaps! Wish you were there Brother!
Congrats to all the winners this weekend!!

First of all, it was an honor to even cook at the Steak Cookoff Association World Championship!

As always, thank you to Dead Bird BBQ - DB180 for the continued support in 2023.



We had a great time and maybe not the results we wanted, but the weekend started with a trip through Bourbon County and a nice medal recognizing top State Points Champs!

On to the nitty gritty..
17th in my Championship group (Tied for 16, lost tie break) but still only 1-1/2 points from making the final round. Was a good steak. We’ll try to get back next year! 😎🎩

I was back of the line posse in the Open, and the judges liked nothing about it. Very strange scores and landed in bottom half.

We had an amazing time with our Dutch friends, GrilLynn and Freestyle BBQ - Jeanette! Such an amazing family that I have grown to love! Thank you Mel for sharing them!

Was great to see the usual as well as so many friends that I’m lucky to see this one time a year!
Great to see so many of you and sorry if we didn’t see ya or didn’t spend enough time with you.

Until we see ya’ll again, have a great year and much success in everything!

Beautifully chilly weekend at Big Dan's BBQ Rohrbach's Farm Market, Bakery and Barn Loft Steak Cookoff Association event.
Dan and Denise are always great hosts! finished the season judging the Friday night event. Very good decision as it led us to a 6th place in Steak A and 10th in Steak B on Saturday!
A double call is always welcome especially having come up empty at recent Big Dan events and heading into the off season as we prepare for the World Championship in March in Ft. Worth, Texas!
