This will be my 10th year with and I am so excited to be part of the in support of people living with HIV/AIDS. This year I will cycle from Toronto to Montreal! 🚴🏽‍♀️

This event is important to me because the money raised goes to help people living with HIV/AIDS. People who need food, wellness care, peer support or just to be in a place that is welcoming and safe for them. and does so much work in doing so.

I hope you'll join me at the Friends for Life Bike Rally and help my fundraising efforts with a donation. It is my goal to raise $4000 or more and any amount is welcome.

My favourite Raised80s vendor is because:
1. Chocolate - I 💕 it!
2. I am moved and inspired by their story - Syrian refugees fleeing war and arriving in Nova Scotia. They started their own successful business doing what they love and supporting their community.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆?
In August, I will be cycling with the cycling from Kingston to Montreal to support the . The ride itself will take three days and is over 300 kms. This will be my eighth year with the bike rally and my involvement with them and other AIDS Service Organizations stems from my desire to give back to a community that has been like family to me and is my way of giving back.

This past Saturday, June 11th, I was part of 5th annual fundraiser. What an amazing experience! 💃🏾

I am proud to have been part of this charitable event that brings awareness of the continuing impact of HIV/AIDS in Canada, raising funds to support initiatives & organizations that help people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS.

👏This year their funding recipients were , and

I suggest you follow them to see the great work they are doing for the HIV community.

🎉Congratulations to the Red Dress Ball Foundation, the performers, volunteers and to everyone who came out and showed their support. You all did great work.
I cannot wait for next year. 😁

June is Pride month. For me, it is a time to celebrate and reflect.

It is important to remember that
🏳️‍🌈Pride started as protest in 1969 at a bar called Stonewall in NYC. 🏳️‍⚧️That trans woman, Marsha P. Johnson was the brave person who threw the first stone.
🌈It was in the years following that Pride marches began.

I love celebrating Pride with my LGBTQ2SI+ friends, family and colleagues. Your community has meant a lot to me and has supported me. I consider you my family and will stand alongside you to celebrate, protest and fight until everyone has equal rights here in Canada and globally.

Very proud of this accomplishment and bringing together my two worlds: events and acupuncture.

In six weeks we organized AcuLovesON an AcuNADA free pop-up clinic event.

📍14 venues across Ontario ⭐️70 volunteers
✨over 120 clients received treatments

It was a great fundraiser, the total will be announced tomorrow.

Today is World AIDS Day. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness.

As mentioned in my last post I support the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation. PWA provides practical supports that impact day-to-day living for people living with HIV/AIDS in Toronto.

It is important to know that despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS-related illnesses.

Today there is continued stigma and discrimination for those living with the condition.

World AIDS Day is a reminder that HIV has not gone away. There is remains a need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.

🚴🏽‍♀️For my part, I am cycling to Montreal in August 2022. For every donation made to my donation page that amount will be matched until midnight tonight.

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday and I am raising much-needed funds for Toronto People with AIDS Foundation, HARS and ACCM.

Since 2014, I have been involved with the Friends For Life Bike Rally and have seen the important work that they do firsthand.

📌Currently, there are thousands of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) who rely on PWA (Toronto), HARS (Kingston) and ACCM (Montreal. These agencies provide practical support to people living with HIV/AIDS
📌PHAs have been disproportionately affected by the social isolation, loss of income and food insecurity brought on by the pandemic.
📌The Federal Government is drastically cutting funding for HIV services across the country, on top of Provincial cuts 2 years ago.

In August 2022, I will be cycling from Toronto to Montreal along with other cyclists to bring awareness to this need.

October is LGBTQ2S+ History Month dedicated to recognizing important moments in the history of LGBTQ2S+ people’s lives. October is the month we observe le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, two-spirit and intersex history. Remembering the roles of those who advocated, created and promoted a just society for all.

As a cis-straight woman, I have been lucky enough to be embraced by the Q***r community. Their strength and resiliency are what have helped me through my rough patches in life as well as acceptance by my own family. I am not comparing my struggles in life to those of the LGBTQ2S+ community but more thanking them for being there for me.

This has prompted me to support them as a community in any way possible. One way I have chosen through New Wave Events is to support  LGBTQ2S+ businesses and charities as much as possible.

Yesterday was lovely. I was invited to the final day of  Festival, co-produced by Harbourfront Centre, with award-winning playwright  Welcome Home, on the battles and success of a survivor from the Sault Ste. Marie Shingwauk Residential School. 

A beautiful true story told through the lens of a residential school survivor. It spoke to the strength and resiliency she experienced along with some of the other children she met.

What makes an Event Planner special?

Picture this...you are planning a holiday party, it is a few months away, but you are extremely busy with work, as well as the other social events that are taking so much time out of your day.

❓ What do you do? Call an event planner that loves planning social events to take all that stress off of your plate.

When looking for an Event Planner you want someone who is:

🎉 A good multi-tasker - There will be many moving parts to planning an event. They will need to deal with any situation that comes up as well with the people involved.

🎉 Organized -They need to handle each vendor, venue, task and people involved. As well as handle budgeting.

🎉 A Problem solver - There will be issues that come up. Constantly. Your event planner will solve that problem so you don't have to.

🎉 Creative - What do you envision for your event? If you are not sure, they will help you create the theme and ensure your guests will have fun.

🎉 Personable - You should like your Event Planner. They need to understand people, like you, and handle and a group of people at any time.

🎉 A great listener - They need to understand your needs and vision. So your event is just as you wished it to be.
