So excited to have this next one joining us!!
Arlene Sefcik is an Agricultural Science Teacher at Academy High School which is located near central Texas. She just completed her 11th year of teaching where eight of those years have been an emphasis is Floral Design. She comes from a non-traditional agriscience background but that has not stopped her from encouraging all students from every background to become active not only in the floral aspect of the agricultural industry but the industry as a whole.

Over her time in education she has consistently taken opportunities to learn more about the industry and grow as a designer by attending extended education through Benz School of Floral Design, Texas State Florist Association and other workshops. All with the best of intentions to help her students inside the classroom bloom.

Her students will be on their third year of their school-based enterprise called Bumblebee Blooms at AHS. Bumblebee Blooms not only allows students have hands on experience making floral arrangements but teaches them the business aspects of owning and operating their own floral shop.

Other classroom opportunities in her upper level courses her students get to do a variety of cross-curriculum events such as Wedding Wars with the Culinary Department and provide workshops for their Life Skills classes throughout the school year. Theses events help spread the love of flowers across campus.

Outside of seeing her students become successful in the amazing opportunities FFA has to offer floral students she find that when her students truly become plant/floral nerds 🏆 🌱 💐

Another great designer joining us!! My name is Savannah Moeller and I just finished teaching my 2nd year of Floral Design at Palacios High School. My love for flowers was sparked while I was in college at Texas A&M by my floral design professor, Jim Johnson. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Horticulture with an emphasis in Floral Design and began my teaching career. After ten years of teaching Art, I got the chance to add floral design to my classroom. Over the past two years we have created many designs for special holidays as well school events. I am interested in starting a design of the month club at our school and I hope to continue growing the floral program at Palacios. I am so grateful for this opportunity and I am most excited to work with such talented educators.

Another amazing teacher joining the fun! Ashley Marshall is an Ag Science Teacher in Anahuac, Texas. She teaches a combination of animal science courses as well as floral design. She has been teaching Ag for a total of 6 years, but has had the pleasure of teaching floral design for the past 4 years. She takes every opportunity presented to her to learn more and perfect the craft. She loves to see the joy on students' faces when they are able to create something beautiful with flowers. Ashley has been happily married for 2 years and lives with her husband and two adorable dogs, Jake and Dally! In her free time, she likes to work out and spend time with friends!

Another great teacher joining us!!


Wendy Lynn Osburn is a Horticulture and Floral Design Teacher for Gunter ISD. She has been teaching for 15 years. Wendy lives in Celina, a small town south of Gunter where she gardens and grows flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruit as a hobby. Her home is used as a test garden for her school, Tiger Gardens. The school gardens are maintained by the Horticulture and Floral classes. Her background is in landscape design and art which has created an opportunity for her to teach Floral Design. She has a BFA in Visual Studies and has a teaching certificate in ART and Ag Sciences. She is the Floriculture coach and has qualified the last 3 years for State level competition. Wendy graduated from the Benz School at TAMU and then went on to earn her CFD. She currently is a member of the TSFA and AIFD. Looking back over her childhood, she is thankful for parents that shared their passions for gardening, a grandmother that loved growing flowers, and another grandmother that introduced the world of fine art. A fun fact about Wendy, she took off from teaching for 10 years to go to seminary to teach women and serve. Best part of her ministry career was her time serving with women in Estonia during the summers. Estonia sparked the love for flowers and gardening which helped create her new passion in designing with flowers. Flowers are her new art medium, and she shares that passion with her high school students.

Allll the way from California!! We are so excited to have this teacher!!! I am finishing up my 13th year of teaching agriculture at Shafter High School in California. I have been teaching floral design for the last 10 years. I took my first floral design course in college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After college I worked for Pyramid Flowers, a California Cut flower grower, before becoming a high school agriculture instructor. Besdies floral design I also teach Biotechnology and Ag Food and Natural Resources. I signed up for Cultivated Blooms for the session on Making a Business in a Classroom.

Look who else will be joining us!! Johnna DuBose

Just completed my third year as an ag teacher which 2 have been floral design along with Principles of ag, adv. Animal, livestock, small animal management and equine science.. I never saw myself teaching floral design until mentor teacher Jessica Lambert opened my eyes about the floral industry. I have enjoyed teaching floral design and seeing my students advance their skills and even pass their TSFA certifications. This year was such a success, I am adding a advanced floral design section and a flower of the month subscription next school year. I can’t wait to learn more about the floral industry to bring back to the classroom.
