Real skeletons were used in the movie Poltergeist in 1982 because it was actually cheaper and more cost-effective than creating and using plastic fake ones. JoBeth Williams was not made aware that there were real skeletons were used in the scene until after she finished shooting it. 😳

A 2-foot-tall specimen of the Pongapong flower (Amorphophallus paeoniifolius) in full bloom during the rainy season. It looks like a witch's hat and is one of the rarest plants found in the Masungi georeserve, the Philippines.

DID YOU KNOW....
The Freddy Kruger character was based on a real serial killer who lived in Cincinnati,OH in the 1800s. According to police files of the time, Mr. Kruger had killed at least twenty children within a three mile radius of where he lived. He reportedly murdered the children using only a gardening claw, and he lived inside an abandoned factory; having set up a small living area (and torture area) within the "mechanical room" of the facility. Oh...back then, a "mechanical room" was also known as a "boiler room".
Mr. Kruger was eventually caught, tried, and found to be criminally insane. He spent the rest of his life in Kings Park Psychiatric Hospital before dying unexpectedly in his sleep at the age of 72.
To this day (and LONG before the Elm St. films) Kings Park Psych Hospital was said to be haunted by the ghost of Freddy Kruger.

"The inner bark of the tree." (Please don't block me)

A mummified hound dog was found INSIDE a tree 28' off the ground in Georgia. Scientists believe it happened approximately 50-100 years ago. It chased an animal into the tree, climbed up inside, and got stuck.

The said mummified dog is now in display in a museum.

Paris is famously known as the City of Love, but perhaps it should also be called the City of Bones. Five stories beneath the streets, the city's iconic catacombs house the skulls and bones of 6 million people in eerie tunnels — which stretch more than 200 miles long.

This "Empire of the Dead" was born out of grisly necessity in the late 18th century when the city of Paris simply ran out of room to bury their dead in cemeteries. The final tipping point was when heavy rain caused a wall around one cemetery to collapse, flooding the surrounding area with corpses. Shortly thereafter, authorities decided to move some of the older bodies into the city's former quarries. Before long, the crypts were packed to the brim with untold numbers of bones, many of them arranged in hauntingly elaborate patterns. And while the catacombs are a popular tourist destination today, only one mile is open to visitors — leaving almost all of the tunnels shrouded in mystery. 🇫🇷
