Amazing Mac Cheese

This is the River Devon at the bottom of our garden in Bottesford. I could normally stand under the bridge with space above me and my feet in about a foot or so of slow moving water. Today things were a little different and a few roads and homes in the village were flooded. So far we have been lucky but there is still a lot of run off water in the fields that will drain down in to the river during the next 24 hours or so. Fingers crossed.

Plus, planning permission has been given for over 200 new homes in the field directly across the bridge. Apparently flooding here is a '1 in 100 year event' and tons more concrete and brick covering the field will not lead to any additional rain water run off and flooding. I feel so reassured by the care and consideration given to this plan by our planners and borough councillors !!!

Just a week to go so probably a good time to say a very Merry Christmas and Terrific New Year to all of our friends.

This year we've enjoyed the occasional hot day and endured even more soaking wet ones together with gale force winds but it's always been fun.

Keep saying 'this is the last year' but we will be back in 2025, in a field, event ground, market square or wedding venue.

Sunday was our last event for 2024 and we ended our year as we started with yet another sell out (in record time).

One more year do I hear you cry ?

Yep we will be back in 2025 but we're hibernating till Spring - unless of course you have a wedding or special celebration popping up that needs some 👍🧀😀

After a challenging day of wind and rain on Saturday we are now preparing for better weather on Friday this week when we travel all of 7 miles to Bingham for their Christmas event.

Things are also looking good for the Quorn Food and Craft Trail on Sunday.

Traders are almost finished setting up, the stage is ready and is cooking. We’re braving the weather at the West Bridgford Christmas Lights Switch on. Come and join us on Central Avenue. All starts at midday. 👍😀🧀

The weather forecast is awful but the show must go on so this Saturday we will be in 'Wet' Bridgford for their Christmas Lights Switch On.
Put your big coat and wellies on and join us on Central Avenue from 12-6pm for food, drink, seasonal gift stalls, festive street performers and live music. All topped off with a low noise firework spectacular finale.

Result .... on Saturday our local Environmental Health Officer did the rounds of the traders at ChocFest in Melton Mowbray.

On Sunday she came back with her family and told them, 'this is the trader I was telling you about'.

Last seen they were walking away with her daughter digging into a pot of with a topping of locally smoked bacon.

Must be doing something right if the hygiene inspector brings her family for a bite to eat at your trailer 😀👍🧀

Just done some shopping and started to pack down the trailer ready for the Melton Mowbray Food Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

I've not counted how many food and drink traders will be there but it will be lots. The map shows the layout with each square being a different food, drink or associated product trader. Loads to see, eat and drink.

I'm the yellow dot (no it's not one of those where's Wally games).

Not working this weekend as it’s Mrs Mac Cheese’s birthday on Sunday. However, we did drive over to the Malvern Show on Saturday and discovered a brilliant artist called Molly Lemon.
